M&S ready made cranberry sauce, M&S ready made bread sauce, M&S ready made brandy sauce, M&S ready made turkey gravy.

Probably easy to guess I am doing Xmas dinner here….:D

In fairness, we were given an early Xmas meal last week by friends using all of the above and they were excellent,,especially the cranberry sauce. Why make it hard?

You have probably spent more on just one of those sauces than it would have cost you to make them all

I have no doubt about that derek, £12.50 for the lot.

I did everything from scratch last year, including the Xmas pudding and cake and was underwhelmed by the displays of appreciation (other than from Mrs B) despite the excellence of the output so can’t really see much point in slaving over a hot stove all day.

The M&S Rustic Stuffing is awesome, but I am making an exception and sticking to my great grandma’s recipe for that, especially as I make enough to last for about a week"………..lovely….

Every year I make broccoli & stilton soup, I don’t mind as every bit gets eaten, I make gravy (jus) from giblets & nobody will touch it yet they’re happy to devour dead animals, reminds me of when I went sea fishing at Whitby & came back with a bag full of cod, I started prepping it & Bev said don’t do any for me or the kids & she went & bought fish & chips.

One of my bosses was given a live turkey for Xmas…he managed to get it home…his wife made him take it to the butchers and do a part exchange for a dead one:risas3::risas3:

A neighbour used to go shooting, coming up Christmas he was taking orders for duck & geese that he would shoot to order, another neighbour ordered a goose, when my neighbour had shot it he took it round & told the guy to hang it in his shed for a couple of days, the guy looked at it & said “I’m not having that it’s still got it’s head & feathers” neighbour said “sorry, I didn’t have enough cartridges to shoot it’s f#cking head & feathers off”

I used to get a rabbit, pigeon, pheasant, duck and the occasional goose every year for an old boy down the road for his xmas game pie and always got a huge slice on boxing day, best thing I have ever tasted made even better by the fact that nobody else in the house liked it :)
...................................

Sitting in the living room one night many years ago number one daughter (17 or so) let out a huge scream scaring the life out of me, we had a downstairs toilet that was used as a junk/boot room and she had gone for her wellies only to open the door (outwards) and got smacked in the face by a brace of pheasant I had hanging ... not impressed :meparto:

Same daughter a few years before had opened the chest freezer and screamed at the " skinned dead cat" that was in there, actually a bagged and prepped rabbit that I had not quartered :meparto:

Must admit I’m not a fan of game, I tasted rabbit as a kid & hated it, duck is horrible & greasy.

A good standard safe bet!

we have moved over to using wax melt burner things, seem to get a much stronger scent from them, they last for ages and are a fraction of the price of candles.

I have a Himalayan salt burner in my office at home, cracking piece of kit. Trouble is, melts are only single use and it’s a PITA scraping the dead wax out before using another. Ok, light another candle to soften the bottom before scraping out, fine, but it’s catching it at the right time.

I have a few of the larger Yankee Candles in the jars and I use a hurricane lamp instead of lighting the candles. They really do last for years. Only problem with them is finding replacement bulbs for the lamp; LEDs are no good because they don’t generate sufficient heat.

Bev has dozens of Yankee candles, several she bought in Florida over four years ago, I think she’s only ever lit two of them.
