I worked the regatta at a bar a couple of times and nicked the boater off a posh knobhead who had too many Pimms to take it back
My lot used to do corporate entertainment at Henley….the only time I was pressganged into going it chucked it down all day so everybody went home. Result.it was a genuine answer

It’s not the rowing I don’t like, it’s the event. i rowed in a coxed four as a teenager and loved it. Sadly the opportunity to continue was taken away, a shame as it was something I think I could have got serious about.
I didn't get to see much of the event just an endless procession of arrogant entitled drunks and idiots, the hours were long with few breaks and the bar was baking hot by mid morning but the pay was very good and we could collapse with a free beer or 6 at the end of shift
At the time it was worth putting up with the hassle but its not somewhere I would work or even go to again for any amount of money
