Cobh (pronounced Cove) is a good place to stay and is near Cork, I spent 10 weeks working on an off shore pipeline there a couple of years ago (most enjoyable 10 weeks work I ever did).

It's a small town/village on the coast, was also the last berthing point of the Titanic, and when the Lucitania was torpedoed near bye, all the suvivors and alot of the dead bodies were brought ashore there too. There are monuments along the front to comemerate this and also monuments to the 3,500,000 Irish who emmigrated to USA from that very port in days gone by. The town has about 50 pubs and a very large Cathederal (with 42 bells, more bells than any other in Ireland).

We stayed here for a couple of weeks, also stayed at a couple of other places too but can't remember their names.

depends how far south you wanna go but I can thoughly recommend co clare, Doolin on the coast. You have the aran islands, thats the propper ones not the scam off the ayr coast, The cliffs of Moher (sp) and caves and the Burren. Great little village with the ubiquitous Crac.

Save your money, Ireland is quite expensive, and the Euro/? is crap at the moment anyway.

Hi, pity you missed the chance because of the weather, I came back from Ireland on 16th April after 5 days there and it was brill...weather ok. Followed the coastal route from Larne all the way round to Westport and the scenery was as good as the west coast of bonnie Scotland. People / campsites brilliant ...guinness and seafood as always superb. I had a drop while there and broke off the RH mirror ..AA guided me to O Donnagheys outside of Sligo and low behold the guy had an identicle Blackbird sitting in the showroom...his own personal one, lucky or what. Anyway he gave me the mirror bracket off his without any hesitation and I bought him a new one @ 40 euro,s saved my ass ....thats what you call Irish hospitality......Brilliant place I"LL BE BACK.
