Thetford goes large !

Well... what a fookin show up !!
Apparently Thetford was the only place in Europe that had riots over the football last night ( fer god sake don't these muppets have any sort of life ! )
Our little town seems to have been the focal point for every news team in the UK today...
Whilst I cannot begin to defend the behaviour of the english hooligans I would like to give a little background to the events..
Thetford has a HUGE Portugese population that has influxed in less than 3 years.
The portugese have set themselves aside from the local community. Portugese shops even have signs up saying no english !
The Red Lion pub mentioned in all the reports is owned and run by a nice chap who is Portugese, unfortunatly many of his clientel ( all of whom are Portugese ) are racist to the extreme. The pub is a no go area for english people.
All day yesterday many of the clientel were standing outside the pub shouting and generally being abusive to anyone who came within earshot.

As I said, I do not condone or offer any sort of excuse for what happened...
I will say that the english fans were sore provoked though.

John, when you say "No English", does that mean they don't speak it or that they don't want the English in their establishments?

when Tina and I went to the bash, our hotel was just down the road from the red lion, and we had to pass it on a couple of occasions, the "hard" looks we recived certainly made Tina feel threatened, to the extent of her wanting to phone another couple that were following, to "warn" them of the possible problem, :dunno:
the Ghettos in new york started this way and look at the "results" of that, :dunno: if these "people" wish to create a "little" portugal, or any other country these immigrants come from, why not just send them back to "the original and best" country that THEY are trying to recreate in Britain, :dunno:

Originally if an english person went into one of the shops with this sign up they were told in no uncertain terms that english people were not served.
After complaints were made the shops were visited ( by whoever deals with such things ).
You must take those sings down.
But they mean we speak no english.
What are you speaking now then ?
Errr... I do not know..

Rest assured the signs have been removed.. However, that has not changed anything as english folk are still not served in the shops in question :bang:
