Interesting The speed of F1 !

A long time ago I did a track day that was open to bikes and F3 cars
There was some real tasty riders there ... they were quick
I also knew that cars in the right hands on a track are always gonna be quicker than bikes
But I was genuinely shocked at just how much faster the F3 guys were !!!!

Going on from that, I came across this today

Cars will always corner better than motorised bicycles.

Motorised bicycles 'should' accelerate faster than cars.

My lap time around the Indy circuit at Brands in a car was significantly quicker than my best on a Yamaha Race School R6.

Steve Plater corners faster than me on a motorised bicycle, even when he is on the wrong line and giving me the finger while doing it. I know this.

I was at Bruntingthorpe 10 years or so ago with my turbo Busa courtesy of Performance bikes when they ran an article on it.
Coincidentally at the same time a car mag. was running a Ferrari 458 Italia and a Lambo Gallardo.
We were getting my Busa to 200 and back to zero in under a mile, the two “supercars” were unable to get to their supposed top speeds within the 2 and a half miles available down the runway.

we could have done the length of the runway, stopped, turned the bike around and got back to the top end before they got to need to corner.

I will try and find it, but there is a similar comparison of Freddie Spencer doing a lap of Laguna Seca on and NSR GP bike.

From a standing start, a Yamaha something or other starts a lap, 35 seconds or so later a top race car starts and then about a minute after the bike started Freddie sets off and blitzes them both

It would have been an interesting comparison had they used a race spec Superbike as No 2 vehicle but I suspect that this was pre WSB.
