This is what I started with. Its a Baotian 50

First job remove all the tat and crap

1605471253453.png

And the loom.. Had to split it right down as I intended to use a lot of the connectors

1605471318456.png

Then it was in to the workshop where the first job was to strip and clean the carb as the petrol tank was full of water

1605471456052.png

Next was to start hacking the frame.. this big loop had to go as did the shock top mount as it was too high dor what was coming

1605471536863.png

Top shock mout welded back on in a different location

1605471765865.png

Next was to sort out the messy front end and cut it down 7"

1605471670770.png

First of all the stem

1605471828418.png

Then the headstock

1605471862490.png

Then bolt the front end back together

1605471964476.png

This was the first seat /tank subframe... Was not till I finished it I realised it was much too high !

1605472065265.png

This the lower, neater frame with the tank mounts in place

1605472140762.png

Once that was done, along with the myriad of small finishing jobs, I just had to bolt it together
As I said else where .. the seat looks crap, but it works and that is all that matters :)

These and the Syms seem to be popular down here. I MOT dozens of them. In standard drag they are truly shockingly built That said kids tear them around and by first MOT they’re hanging out so at least they last three years. The rate the rubber perishes around things like the carb intake is frightening !

It may well be I’m about 100m from the coast as they seem to love rot. The syms are bloody quicker than the rest that’s for sure.
