Why is it compulsory to purchase a kebab at the end of a night in the town?,
last night my youngest daughter, went into Wakefield with her colleagues, she arrived home at 2.30 this morning with a kebab which she immediately put into the microwave, with the idea of eating it when she got up, she has just got up opened the microwave removed the kebab, and given it to me as she didn't want it, if she ain't gonna eat it why buy it?

Ah the kebab phenomenon,

It is only after the consumption of much alcohol, that this food item becomes hypnotic :lick: you are drawn into the takeaway and are mesmerised by the image of what can only be discribed as half a dead elephant leg, overwhelmed by the urge to purchase the said food item (often declining the offer of "extra chilli") Once purchased, it is compulsory that you then stagger down the road, fishing out all the salad crap (that you did in fact ask for) and actually try to eat the whole chilli pepper (big mistake) :puke:

the above practice, however, is one that neither man nor beast would ever consider in the cold light of day. Probably why your daughter aimed it straight in to the bin this morning :}

The thing is though I buy kebabs when I am sober, and I have extra chilli on them, and I love em, when I am drunk I usually buy a vegetarian Pizza :dunno: something that I would never buy when sober, my theory is that we all have dormant aliens living inside us, and when we are drunk, they take over and control us, making us do things and buy things that we would not normally do, and then erase it from our memories :}

You can't beat a good Indian meal, medium to hot, as long as they don't use tartrazine (bright red food dye) the only thing guaranteed to make me :puke:

Ahhhhh....the Doner Kebab....food of the God's !!!!!!! :bow: :bow:

I must admit that I too, buy the delicacy when sober. All the salad and the extra chilli sauce is a must......and you have to let the water from the salad mix with the chilli sauce and the vinegar from the sweet chilli peppers so the pitta bread goes soggy and a strange pinky-red colour. :bow:

But for the true kebab connoisseur, a visit to Turkey is a must. Still the same style of dead elephant leg going round on a upright spit....but it has potatoes, carrots, onions and other vegtables embedded into it which add to the experience. :lick: :lick:

I too have had the pleasure of sampling the above, not just that but a whole plateful of different Turkish delicacies,... but why did I leave it to the last day of my holiday to try it :bang:

Derek.....Tracey and me have been holidaying in Turkey for the last ten years, at least once a year. I rarely eat in the 'English' style restaurants when I'm there as the Turkish food leaves most of the 'English' stuff for dead.

I can eat British grub in the U.K. every other day of the year....but only get the chance to sample the authentic Turkish cuisine for the two weeks holiday. If you're not too sure of what to order in a Turkish restaurant and you plan to go back.....e-mail me and I'll give you a run-down on all things foodie in Turkey. :beer: :beer:

And that's Efes beer being drunk above !!!! :lol:

I love to travel to different places and sample their food, however my wife likes her food burnt, also she won't eat what she is not sure of. having said that she will now eat a Jalfrezi and enjoy it,
Last year was the second year running when we went to Turkey (Marmaris) and it was on the last day on the advice of a friendly landlord that we sampled the true Turkish fare, My wife was delighted with it, and next time we go back to Turkey we will be eating it a lot more of it, and thank you for your offer I will certainly contact you, then my wife can see what she wants to try before we get there.

What hotel were you in Derek ??? We've done Marmaris/Icmeler 6 times, Turgutreis, Bodrum/Gumbet, Turunc and Dalyan. This year was the first time ever we went back to the same hotel that we had used the year before. The place is just ideally situated, friendly, clean and has all the facilities we look for in a hotel. Already booked again for next summer !!!!!! :}

Unfortunately I am terrible at remembering hotel names, the first year we made the mistake of going all inclusive, we were the only guests that spoke English the rest were Russian, and proved to be very ignorant so we were moved to the hotel next door. the following year we were set further back from the front but still cannot remember the name of the hotel.
