I’m no financial expert but I think paying disposable income off the mortgage is far safer than pensions.When pensions weren't performing as investments I took a holiday from them and paid it all into a flexible mortgage and then get over paying even when the pension contributions restarted. Made an amazing difference.

Doesn’t matter if you’re a man. If you’re a man and you get divorced, you’re fucked whatever situation you’re in.The other side of the coin, the quicker you pay off your mortgage the more money your other half can claim should you get divorced.

Seriously, with rates where they are there iscase for not paying off a mortgage and using the funds for investing in something else. A half decent rental should net at least 4% for insrptane, although you are open to swings in capital value.
Just saying like. I paid my mortgage off as number one priority.
