In that as of today (Friday) after 30+ years I am mortgage free having made my last payment this morning.

What a lovely feeling it is knowing that the pressure is off not having to make that payment anymore and I can now even consider looking for a part time job if needs be. (y):campeon2:

Good on yer! :Saeufer:

We over-pay ours by 100% to get shot of it early. Not everyone's of a wise investment but I'd rather do that than pour it into a pension pot or give it to a 'fund (mis) manager'.

Paid ours off 6 years ago. Gone without some of the nicer things in life to get there, but worth it in the end.

What is an mortgage??

:)

Seriously, with rates where they are there iscase for not paying off a mortgage and using the funds for investing in something else. A half decent rental should net at least 4% for insrptane, although you are open to swings in capital value.

Just saying like. I paid my mortgage off as number one priority.

I'm too youngerer to have paid off my mortgage yet.

Considering I'm earning a damn sight less than most on here, I'm actually better off than all ya all, in my plans to be mortgage free. :)

I’m too young for a mortgage :p

Aside from that, given that most on here are retired you’re prolly one of the highest earners.

I am earning more now that I am partially retired than when I was employed full time, having said that I am paying over £80 a month more into two pensions than I ever did before I drew my pension.
