As we were on about telling funny(?) stories one came to mind that happened to me.
I owned a CBR1000 at the time (I know, I know) and I was riding down a duel carriage way when I passed a bike that had broken down so being biker friendly I slowed down and stopped about 60 yards or so past it as there was plenty of room on the hard shoulder. I put the bike on the side stand and walked back to the guy who had broken down, and after making sure he was OK we started nattering away (like you do) when a 40 tonner went by and knocked or blew me bike over.
I dashed back to the bike and one side of the faring was scratched and badly damaged.. you can imagine I was not too happy but there was nothing I could do so I rode off.
The resulting ?700 in damage was an expensive lesson hard learned.
It makes you wonder some time don't it?

Many, many, many years ago mate of mine on a Norton Commando blasted by with a local bike copper on his BMW with Blu's & 2's chasing - something about going too fast....

Couple of us were out, gave a wave and got otta his way as he went past (we didn't notice the BMW I'm afraid and re-positioned).

Couple hundred yards down the road as we all converged on a large roundabout we saw annother bike come in from annother direction and take a spill on diesel.

Norton stopped to block the traffic and help the guy, copper did the same and we joined in when we got there.

When matey was all sorted Norton got booked for the speeding but let off failing to stop - we'd seen the tail end of a couple of miles event it seems.

We thought it was a bit unfair - particularly as our view was he was winning.
