Anyone else watch this and think "we're completely fooked"...?

Neither candidate impressed me. BoJo, as usual, was all bluster.... Hunt just wanted to point score against BoJo. I don't believe Hunt is commited to getting us out of the EU and I don't think BoJo has any idea how to get us out.

The general concensus seems to be that although Hunt came out better (apparently), it's probably too late as most of the Tory membership have already voted. Polls based on that gave BoJo a 60%/40% lead.

One thing is for sure.... with BoJo's refusal to back Kim Darroch we now know that he doesn't have the backbone to stand up to the Trumpet..... so how's he going to face off against the EU's professional bureaucratic beasts...?
You could say that he was thinking of the wider issues i.e. staying cosy with Trump for better trade deals, etc. but by throwing Darroch to the lions he's undoubtedly pissed off many government civil servants. How is he going to play hardball with the EU when the civil service that he will be relying on can't trust him...?

I now have a fair idea what the Yank voters were faced with when given the choice between The Trumpet and Clinton.

I'm glad we don't have to vote on this because I couldn't choose either one.

Remember two year ago in the states ?Clinton or the Moron ?
Now we are stuck with a slimy bit of work I would not trust in a kiddies playground or someone who has little grasp on reality ( or at least, that is the persona he projects )

Lets face it, no politician these days is interested in representing the views of their consituants, they are all in it for what they can get out of it for themselves.

Democracy seems to be a dirty word and for the so called Liberals, the word Democrat and democracy only applies when it suits their needs.

As for that communist lot who proport to be Labour, I really worry of they get in at the next election.

I am not sure what is a bigger worry, BoJo as PM or Corbyn as PM with Macdonald as Chancellor and Abbot as Home Secretary and responsible for the Police, Border security and departments such as GCHQ, MI5 and so on.

Whatever, I have come to the conclusion that regardless, with the clowns we have running the country these days, this country really is going down the shitter.

I have said it all along - I would love to have a pint with Boris but don't want him as PM.

Having an exuberant and likeable personality can only get an individual so far - there has to be ability and talent to support it in the background. I have worked with people who have the former but not the latter - they soon become very wearing and frustrating.

To be fair to Boris he was excellent as Mayor of London - he actually got stuff done, transforming the role into something more than symbolic.

I'm not sure how Hunt ended up as being labelled as 'point scorer ' against Boris - all he did was repeatedly ask Boris to answer the questions rather than avoid/deflect away from them. Personally I thought Hunt came out of the 'debate' well.

I don't care for Hunt.

His primary weapon of choice was to bounce questions back onto BoJo. A classic ploy when unable, or unwilling, to answer the question yourself.
If I hear him say "I'm an entrepreneur" one more time I'm going to buy a copy of The Entrepreneur magazine and ram it down his throat.
He has stated that he is a great fan of the Armed Forces and he will spend big time to make them the best. But... he said recently that those who are being (or will be) investigated over actions in Northern Ireland are to be treated no different to the terrorists. Historically he also voted against the Military Covenant.
He keeps claiming that he saved the NHS yet I could spend the next week walking around the hospital where my other half works and I would't hear a good word said in his favour. He has scant support from them.

I agree with you about BoJo. Amusing at times, but ultimately hasn't got the Churchill steel that he tries to project as having. He's cost an Ambassador his career by not speaking up and an Anglo-Iranian woman her freedom by opening his mouth without engaging brain first.
