Yep. I don't have the patience to work out the whole Android thing yet (I will), but it's better than that fruit machine BS

From someone 40 years in IT

And another guy with at least 25 years in IT gave up Apple and went Samsung

There is an easy answer to all this - Apple may be in short supply at the moment. I tried to buy a new iPad today and the only way I could get one was to collect from Argos next week - hardly essential so that's not happening. Apple are quoting 8-10 weeks delivery when ordering online; needless to say they told me that after going through the whole ordering process and being one click away from asking payment.

I am going to stick to my Mattel 'My First Tablet' for the moment.

Which one are you trying to buy? I can get most of them from Apple by 4th February

Andy, try currys & ask them to price match
Price match who? You won't get a current iPad at a discounted price so there's nothing to match.

A bog standard iPad 32gb.

As above, not going to collect, was looking for delivery.

But it can wait.

Blimey ! Thats a first !!!
I suppose the shortage could be down to the government scheme for supporting students during lockdown;don't know if apple products are involved.

I'm not in any hurry.....although my son uses an iPad Air which is rather nice.....hmmmmmm.

A mate works in a bonded warehouse & says that apple products are still going through at the rate of 1 to 3 wagons a day but he has noticed a drop off in products from other makers :nusenuse:

My second one is an Air..
I think iPads are great to do some basic browsing with or playing simple games on, but for me I would never consider them a replacement for a proper computer.. but then, I would say the same about fones and any other tablet

Interesting - I bought a bluetooth keyboard when I got my first iPad thinking I would need a keyboard....the only time I have had it out of the box to see if it worked.

Its a bloody nightmare doing HTML and FTP stuff with the iPad ( compared to the ease of using a PC )
Not a lover of spread sheets on the iPad either...

I do spreadsheet stuff on a pc that has to be a good fifteen years old as it has the software isnstalled - it is really, really slow but it gets there!

You'll be pleased to know I now have anew iPad being delivered on Friday from Argos; I was putting three iPads in the basket to see what was available , one of each colour as I really don't care - for some strange reason if you put more than one item in the basket delivery is not available for delivery . Put a silver one in the basket on its own and they could have delivered this pm.

Bizarre.
