My Broadband/phone contract with Talktalk is due to end in May this year. They sent me an email on 11 Feb telling me this & offered me a good deal for staying with them. The only stipulation is I had to accept the offer before 17th Feb, which I did.

Fast forward to today & I haven't received anything from Talktalk, so I get on to the webchat and have now spent the better part of an hour tryng to sort it out. Aparently their system did not process my acceptance but they can offer me a different (read worse) deal fro more money.

They are refusing to honour the deal I signed up to, which coincidentally was offered 2 weeks before they put the price up). I'm currently telling them that they are in breach of contract as they offered, I accepted but they failed to do anything about it, putting me in a financially worse position for a worse service.

Bunch of crooks

Vote with your feet and go elsewhere. There’s more providers out there than you could shake a stick at and new business tends to provide better deals.

Talktalk are a cunch of bunts

I had a contract with them which I cancelled before renewal as the price had shot through the roof but they kept taking the money, I cancelled the direct debit and they kept taking the money, my bank refunded every time & made sure the dd was never to be paid again but guess what they kept taking the money, the bank told me if they submit the correct details they are obliged to pay, which smells like bullshit to me

In the end I lost the plot a little, told the manager exactly what I thought and went to close my account, funnily enough a new account appeared in my name with my details and all my money but a different account number within minutes & that was the end of that

Staff at my local branch are as helpful as can be, & the manager always greets me by name whenever I go in there and nothing is too much trouble, proof positive that letting them know when they are out of order is worthwhile

TalkTalk are the biggest lying pile of shite out there. Get away from them as soon as you can, I had to argue with a bloody Indian with a speech impediment for ages trying to get my point across. They once told me to try something in a line fault that then required a BT engineer to come and sort out and then they tried to charge me £75 for their fault. No frickin way Jose!

The bank are correct in what they said in they said in your second paragraph.

As an aside, when I was in a role recovering non-performing (bad) debts I was more than once ’threatened’ with ‘I’m going to close my account’. If only they realised the irony. As it was always an entirely hollow threat my usual response was ‘you’ll be threatening to pay in next’.

I understand closing an account is an empty threat but it seems like it had the desired effect on this occasion & they sorted out what needed sorting out, perhaps they need the custom but either way they have been brilliant ever since :)

Got what I wanted eventually which was the deal I signed up for in the first place after offering me 'the best deal I can' 4 times, bettering it each time. I have a transcript of the chat which is going off to their head office together with a complaint.

Going to see what else I can get out of them now just for the hell of it. I know I should have walked away but to be fair, the broadband service I've had over the past 18 months, I can't fault. There are many complaints about other ISPs in the village dropping out, low speeds etc and I've never experienced that and in my road, no other ISP will offer fibre broadband yet as we all rely on old copper cables strung across the road. in fact, the only problem I had was the router which had a broken bracket out of the box, but as I use my own, that wasn't really a problem either.

My contract was for phone & internet, the net was good enough at the time but the phone never worked at all (only had it as it was cheaper then broardband on its own) then I got a bill for 70 quid in calls o_O phoned them off the mobile explaining that the phone didnt work many times & they always tried to call back on the house phone ........ fecking idiots!
