The insurance peeps are coming to take the bike away for scrapping on Mon. and from the confines off his hospital bed Neil is wondering how to get the scotoiler off for his next bike----given that it will be at least a year before he can get on one again not sure that I understand the importance of this but it seems to matter,-- soooo would I be able to do it? and if so can someone give me an idiots guide?

Just follow the vacuum tube from the top of the oiler and remove it from wherever it joins the engine/pipework. Mine is connected via a spigot (small hollow screw-in nut with a hole in the top) straight to the engine casing. It may also be connected into a vacuum pipe. You can undo any cable ties that attach that tube and the oil feed tube (the one that comes out of the bottom of the oiler and goes to the chain) and the whole thing can be gently pulled away.

You will need to undo the two bolts holding the fuel tank rear (under the front of the seat) and lift the fuel tank to get at the engine-end of the vacuum pipe.

I'd suggest it depends on how much you want to salvage of the pipework.

It's possible to buy the vacuum tube/connectors, delivery tube/nozzle for about ?15-?20 (max proly less) from scotoiler.

If you don't mind replacing those then the easy way would be to locate the scotoiler (under the seat prob).

1. Cut off the delivery tube (clear plastic one) which comes out of the bottom of the unit.

2. Cut off the vacuum tub (thinner black plastic one) which comes off from the top of the unit (not the bits at the side/top - see 4 below).

3. Remove whatever fitting bolts/fixings have been used to attach it to the bike.

4. Remove the unit from the bike complete with the breather pipe/assembly - this is the bit that goes into one side of the oiler at the top. It's a bit of black rubber/plastic with a clear tube attached and a wider bit at the end containing some material which allows air and not crud inot the tube.

This way means you don't have to bother with removing the tank and tracing vacuum pipes/connectors to the engine.

Only other thing would be if he has the additional large capacity extra oil tank fitted. This is often put behind the number plate. 'Fraid I've no experience of that but woujld again suggest that the pipework is cheap so the easiest way (if it's fitted) is to cut the pipes and just unbolt the unit.
