I've got a cheapo (?10 from Hein Gerrick) one that I use sometimes. It's the Oxford basic one .... has a velcro strap that goes under the seat plus bungees to secure it and then a couple of bungess across the top as well.

Worked well for me and stayed secure when I've needed it ..... handy when I just want to carry a few bits without panniers etc.

Tip: fit it to the bike before packing it ........... well we all learn somehow fl4g71

I've got a small Oxford first time one that works ok, has a flap that goes under the seat to keep it secure.

Also used a larger recently, cheapo called "slapper". worked ok too, though didn't have the underseat straps.

One tip - some of the bungees were rubbing against the paintwork, so I used the old trick of a piece of gaffer tape on the paintwork. Thing is even though I stuck the gaffer tape to my jeans and pulled a couple of times to reduce the amount of sticky stuff left, when I removed it after the tour there were still loads glue residue on the paintwork - which I stupidly scrubbed too hard and ended up scratching and tarnishing the paint. So, while the gaffer tape idea may be useful, be very careful how you remove the residue if there is any left. People since have said I should have used nail varnish remover, petrol or white spirit instead of scrubbing hard, but its too late now!!

Plus - get yourself some decent bungees, not the cheap ones from the pound shop!! A few short ones were just a useful as the longer ones!

I've had the Oxford Sports expandable tailpack for three years or more now and found it to be excellent. Expands upwards and outwards (both sides). It's quite large when fully expanded and quote unobtrusive when in slim mode - but still holds a surprising amount of kit. Hidden shoulder straps are built in to a pouch if you wanna wear it like a rucksack when off the bike.

Unlike D & D's, it doesn't have the underseat velcro strap, just four short built in bungees at the bottom, which actually makes it much easier to put on the bike when it's packed. Additionally bungees then criss-cross over the top thru four ringlets, and the pack is as secure as a secure thing.

The bungees have protective patches attached that you strategically position to protect the bodywork. They seem to work ok as I've had no mishaps. Waterproof cover included.

Very well made from seemingly quite tough material. A good bit of kit but not so cheap! (Can't remember what I paid now - about ?90 I think)

Heartedly recommended!
