Thinking of disapearing to Brittany for a long weekend on the bike, probably 4 or 5 days around April.
Taking Alex on the back so wont be a full out & out blat but wandering if anyone knows of some good roads & places to go. Alex likes beeches & i like beer so open to ideas really.
So far the cheapest ferry has been Plymouth - Roscoff @ ?129 with cabin return.
Probably ok with about 100/150 miles a day cruising & stopping of at a few places, thought that would be enough to get around the edges of Brittany or cut through it, up for ideas & suggestions.
Any ideas on routes & hotels greatfully recieved
 .

Doing it on the cheap would be good aswell so no 5 star hotel ideas !!!!!.

Some nice roads.....

... around Shropshire, and Wales mate...... Save the money used for the ferry, and use it for an all out balls out hotel somewhere bloody wonderful where they speak (near) English...LOL

No ferry = no sea sickness, no passports, no bloody foreigners (ask Rhino !!)

Where ever you go guys, hope the weather is glorious, and the roads are smooth and fast..

Best wishes, and loads of love,

Karen and me took a run on the BB around Brittany last year and enjoyed every minute of it. Having said that, a lot of the enjoyment was derived from being childless for the week!

The nice thing about Brittany is that nowhere is to far to ride. If you don?t like the look or feel of a place, just move on. Accommodation is easy to find and usually quite cheap. Remember that many smaller French towns and villages, shut down completely after 8.00pm (and in the afternoon for a few hours). If you want something to do in the evenings (eat/drink) you need to stop in one of larger towns or coastal ?resorts?.

The only thing I suggest as a ?must do? is that If you are using the St. Malo crossing, then make sure you spend a day and night in Dinan prior to getting the ferry the following morning. Dinan is a stunning medieval citadel, the ?old town? area just has to be seen. The place to stop in Dinan is the Hotel De la Porte Saint-Malo, 35 Rue Saint-Malo, 22100 Dinan, D22, 02-96391676. It?s a stones throw from the old city walls in an old part of town. English speaking, biker friendly, cheap (35/40EU for a very good quality room), a place to park the bike, good bar and banter with the locals.
