Although having designed treatment works I have issue with some of the questions.
Q4. This doesn't happen, there are no large ponds apart from 'storm tanks' that hold waste during heavy rainfall when the system is loaded. The large solids are taken out at the first stage in the process by an inlet screen and then smaller solids are taken out by other processes.
Q5. has multiple answers as the process is more than one stage. both chemical dosing and activated rock are used.
Q8, Sand filters are used as a tertiary treatment for the same reason activated carbon is used, sometimes both are used depending on the waste profile.
Q9. Everyone in the industry calls them reed beds, no need for the fancy name.
