Seriously? The word "aggressive" is a bit subjective. I'm guessing you just sat in your vehicle and pushed the button? My definition is to rip the horn out and go and beat the tw*t over the head with it. I wonder if the fine is the same?

Bloody hell. You must have been aggressive. You going to enlighten us?
As ever it is hard to describe...essentially two lane carriageway with lane one blocked by a long tail back for an exit. I was in lane two crawling with the rest of the traffic, when it started moving two cars in lane two tried to push into the queue for the exit, both stopping in lane two causing the traffic to stop suddenly, normal concertina effect. By chance, marked plod was in the queue in the slip road, arm out the window to direct the two cars to continue past the exit. One did (wisely), the second one went past plod and then jumped on the brakes in lane 2 trying to bully their way in, leaving the back end of his car sticking half way across lane 2. When he finally got out of the way I gave him a long blast on the horn as I went past.

One plod jumped out to deal with the driver of the other car, the other chased me up the road and pulled me over. He immediately said I wasn't getting a ticket, just 'words of advice'.

We had quite a long and amicable chat, and looking at the dashcam after I can see that my approximate three second blast was perhaps a bit OTT. Plod said he had attended incidents where a long blast has led to confrontation and I can see that.

What was interesting is his perception of what had happened, pretty much at odds with mine - he said I didn't anticipate the situation, that I was in lane 1 shortly before the incident and I was doing between 60 and 70 when I went past the police car. I had been in lane 2 queuing for about five minutes before the incident (correctly anticipating that the problem was traffic going to the Brighton match) and the dash cam showed me accelerating gently up to 32/33 when I passed plod, to my mind reflecting the messy traffic situation around me He also said that I repeatedly tooted the horn, dashcam shows it was one long blast.

Not a big deal, I can see why he said it was aggressive, albeit he agreed that the 'victim' warranted some 'emotion' from those he was affecting and that his colleague was dealing with that.

Something for me to think about. One short toot would have sufficed.

The silly thing is I wasn't 'annoyed' at the other driver, more just trying to wake him up to the danger he was putting himself, others and, more importantly, me in. In the previous two hours I had navigated driving across south east London, sat on the M23 with cruise set at 70 watching everyone else overtake me and seen some appalling driving so it was all a bit ironic in my mind.

I am a bad man and have agreed to leave home rather than having my wife have to live with me.

By the way, I use the term 'plod' in a endearing way, total respect for those that do a near impossible job.

FFS. Is this what 21st century policing has come to...? :(

Believe it or not I've actually got some sympathy for your, AB. I too have been on the wrong end of police "advice" when in traffic. On the last occasion I was lectured about "weaving about in your lane and confusing following traffic". Or as I put it to the plod who was evidently showing off to his companion WPC, "maximising my view through the bends...as once taught to me by a bike cop when on a rider awareness course many years ago".

Thank you but I'm not looking for sympathy. My prolonged toot was unnecessary and I can see how it could have been perceived as aggressive, especially when done by a flash git in a posh motor.

If nothing else it shows how two people can see the same thing in differing ways - the same as your 'weaving'. In this case had it gone further I would have definetely benefitted from the dash cam footage. Have been thinking about getting a rear facing camera, might do it now!!

I was once pulled over for "swerving into oncoming traffic" there followed a polite but pointed conversation that went something like

Do you know why we pulled you over
nope
you swerved into oncoming traffic
Really?
yes really
ok do you have it on video
yes sit in our car & we can have a look
ok

So we view the video & I point out there is no "oncoming traffic" which didn't go down well
I was then asked why I swerved & the answer "to avoid the fallen tree branch that you hit when following me" caused some surprise :D

Multiple views of the video showed I was correct as did half a tree stuck in the BM cop cars front wheel arch :risas3:
"Thank you sir have a nice day" was all got but my advice that the copper should get some proper training & his eyes tested caused a red face & a giggle from the second copper before I drove off :risas3:

Had mine fitted last Friday, BMW Advanced Car Eye 2.0. Front and rear cameras and all accessed via your smart phone. Ok, I’ll be the first to admit that it’s ludicrously expensive at £475 fitted, but it is the manufacturers own brand and is properly fitted at the BM dealer with no dangling wires and hooked up to the battery without the need to keep plugging it in to your fag lighter socket.
