It's really noticeable how the northern hemisphere fans regard him as a bit of a whiner and plonker all rolled into one. I don't give a toss as I don't follow Moto GP regularly but the southern fans see him as a family man who simply wears his heart on his sleeve.

...At least, in his heyday, Valentino lightened the atmosphere in GP racing after the deadly-serious Doohan years...

Casey's never shown interest in any kind of razzamatazz and I suppose that makes him look a little less "entertaining" in comparative terms - but he's been the fastest out there for a while now, and I'll never forget watching him at Silverstone, in the wet, getting on the gas a-a-ges before everyone else. Love him or loathe him - if he does retire it will be a huge loss to MotoGP.

I thought it was supposed to be ?City or Desert? out there, but that circuit looks be-YOOT-iful. Do they do bike trackdays there, too?

As for Casey? Yeh. I hear ya.

He?s always been consistent. Even in his crashes, I always got the feeling that he was too fast for the bike ? and not vice versa.

?He?s always given of his best ? and it?s a pity that he won?t stay around to prove that he IS the best for much longer.

As I said: this will be a huge loss for MotoGP and, to the man who (I expect) will "go out" WINNING ? I can only offer my respect. :bow:

...But he's STILL "the Moaner"... :-0)

(Final caveat: at a circuit (can't remember which) I heard someone had won a raffle: the prize was "An evening with Casey Stoner." (Oh, how we laughed!)

By all accounts, Stoner was absolutely brilliant to be with: down-to-earth with a great sense of humour and someone who you'd be delighted to have as a genuine friend.

The lesson?

En-JOY the hype.

BIG-IT-Up.

...I reckon the simple truth is that Casey Stoner has nothing to prove.

They may well do trackdays there, they certainly used (and maybe still do) race bikes at Mt Panorama. A few ex-bikers have raced in the Aussie Supercar series, Wayne Gardner just for starters. My missus watches the Mt Panorama just for the massive crashes and blow-ups :-0)

I did have my tongue slightly in my cheek mate, but some of the UK TV and newspapers/mags these days seems completely obsessed with the cult of personality rather than deeds (a bit like the USA). That's not saying that it hasn't crept in to NZ or Aussie a bit but certainly not as much as the "right way up" part of the world and it gets on my tits as you might have guessed by now ;-0))
