Steamed up specs ??

For anyone who has a Fog City and also wear glasses (like wot I do) then you'll know that the Fog City works great but the glasses are a pain, well, I've found the answer !!

I work next door to a Scuba Diving Shop and they sell little bottles of 'goo' that is designed to stop diving masks steaming up. There are little bottles supplied with the masks but I managed to get a bottle for free (nice man!) and so far its brill. Just put a drop on and polish it off (like all the other stuff) but this lasts at least a week before you need to reapply. Been using it for a while and must admit it better than all that other stuff.

I tried to find his suppplier without success, probably cos the bottles are really small (10cc) but they last for ages, so if enough of you lot want one (if you cant get it) , let me know and I'll have a word with him about a 'bulk order'.

Probably best if you email me if you want some cos I'll lose ttrack on the thread !!

Russ, you are a star!!!

I've suffered for donkeys years with this mate. I too wear bins and have Fog City's fitted to my lids, so I'm gonna try my local diving shop (they actually have one in Croydon???). If I can't get it there, I'll PM ya' if that's ok

No probs

the name of the stuff I got was 'Scuba Pro' so if you can't get it (or summit similar) just let me know.

Didn't realise Croydon was so close to the sea, or is it other sorts of diving they do there !!

If you go to the bike shows........

............then look out for Hawaii wax. A pink wax stick thats the absolute bollox for demisting. However, as a bin wearer, I haven't needed anything since I fitted my Fog City. :-:

A Question?

Hi all !!!!!

I wear glasses and suffer with not only my bins steaming up but my visor also !!!

Ive tried various things but nothing seems to work as its surpose too !!

Everyone's talking about these "Fog Citys" do they really work? and does anyone know if they'll fit a carberg helmet, as the caberg has a double curved visor, so finding inserts is a real pain :h

I bought a foggy mask but thats shite too !!!!!

so any suggestions greatfully recieved

Cheers !!

Fog City

Inserts definately work, just the bins cause the problems.

As for you're helmet, you'd better check with them cos I know they mention some of the Shoie Helmets have double curvature visors and the have special Inserts for them.

Good luck...:yo:

Latest News !!

OK, I've just spoken to my friendly Olde Worlde Scuba Shoppie and have got a new bottle of stuff to try out.
The last one was apparantly given free in the boxes that the Diving Masks came in, so you can't actually buy them !
But he did have a different one, it's called 'Sea Drops' and comes in a 37ml bottle.
They cost ?3.95 each but before I get any more I'm gonna try this new one out on my specs.
If it works anything like the freebie then it should be ok, in fact it does also say for Ski Goggles and Optical Lenses as well as diving masks, so given the weather up here in Aberdeen I can test all the seasons in one go !!

If you lot are still interested (if it's any good) let me know if you think it's too expensive, I won't charge any postage !

I'll report back soon :yo:

p.s. as far as gobbing goes, last time I sneezed in my visor it certainly didn't help visability

:}

Russ, excllent recommendation mate. I bough some stuff called Sea Drops from the

local diving shop and tried it earlier today and IT WORKS (hurrah). Bonus; the diving shop assistant was a Kylie Monogue look-a-like & she was also Australian :lick: she soon had my glasses steaming up I can tell ya :}

Biker babe. Russ is absolutely right, Fog City works v.well. What sort of helmet do ya' have 'cos I've got a spare Fog City to fit an Arai QF?

Gobbing on ya visor/glasses??? must be a northern thing :m

Never had a Problem

Always used AGV's and never had a problem with my glasses after removing that face mask thing that covers part of your nose. All it does is direct your breath away from the visor to your gig's. By the way fog city's are really good, work a treat

But these softies that don't ride when it's cold and wet won't notice :m :f

In answer to your question the answer is YES they do fit inside Caberg Helmets but they cost about Two quid more because of the double curvature got ours from M & P SWMBO says when you go out let your glasses adjust to the ambient temperature and you should have no trouble with them steaming up I.E. if its cold outside keep your visor up for a minute or two when you first go outside to let your lenses cool down.

Regards :k

Specs

Well the new stuff seems to work bloody good, was real chilly this morning and even when I went in to get my paper (where everything usually goes misty!) there was nowt. So far it's thumbs up so if anyone wants a bottle and can't get it yourself, drop me a message and I'll get one for ya (?3.95 each).

As for the technique of letting your specs get acclimatised to the outside temp, well thats ok, but your glasses will never get to the same temp as your breath and thats where the problem lies, they are always gonna be colder so as soon as your breath gets on them, thats it, buggered !! Did try a foggy mask once (which tries to stop this happening) but it was a pain in the bum, so gave up.

Right, if ya want a bottle, let me know..........

Russ, I was out on the bike last night

and as you well know, when you come in from the cold, the old bins normally mist up, well (having applied my Sea Drops) not last night mate. So the goo def works. Excellent recommendation mate
