After a pretty close call yesterday with a radar gun in the middle of noware I've desided to invest in a Speed detector in the intreast of safety of course:rolleyes:
Anybody recommend a good detector that I can use on the bike and in the cage......I've read a few good reports on the Beltronics Euro 550...but not sure if its suitable for the bike..
Any advice gratefully received..:goofy:

Dunno about which model is best for a bike, but the Belltronics range are excellent bits of kit !
Did you stop and ask plod WHY he was there ?
They are legally only allowed to operate in 'accident cluster spots ( apparently it is no longer politically correct to call them black spots )..
I recently too a couple of cops to task who were behind bushes in the middle of nowehere waving a hair dryer about..
To start off with they more or less told me to feck off.. then I dropped a couple of names and asked if I could borrow a pen to note there bande numbers ( nowt like rubbing it in ).. also suggested they make a note in their notebooks that I had spoken to them.. When a came back less than 10 minutes later they had gone !:-:

Beltronics 966R is specifically designed for bikes and is probably the best radar detector on the market, a rather big price tag at app ?500 :bandit: Comibine it with with a Target LRC 100 Laser jammer at about ?350 and you have a bike that is invisible!

The trouble with the 966R is that it's a fixed install. The 550 is another excellent piece of kit but it's for cars, a tad difficult to find a good spot to put it on the Bird.

Police forces are tending to move over to Laser, and that's my personal concern. The kit can get you at several hundred metres, way before you ever see the trap. The LRC 100 is a superb device, sends out a jamming signal, causes the police gun to misread, gives you a warning, switches off onto to passive mode, you then have about 10 - 15 seconds to slow whilst the police get anaother reading on you.....now travelling at a legal speed of course!

Radar detectors are legal - jammers are not, there was a case a short while ago where a guy got done for perverting the course of justice by using one.

Clive has persuaded me to post a technical article on how I fitted a detector to my 'bird and what results I got.

Will do this in about three weeks as I'm leaving for the UK on Thurs for a family bereavement.
