Specsavers - wankers !!!

A little over ten days ago I went to Specsavers in WALSALL (name & shame) and ordered a pair of glasses.

Rimless, varifocal with reacta-light, total cost ?359.00, yes, a whoppin ?359.00.

Now its not like I was spending ?150.00 on a two-for-one offer, but a big wedge on 1 pair.

So, I insisted that they be ready for today as I'm goin to Spain Wednesday and wanted them for the trip.

"Well do our best" they said when ordering.

"No" says I, "thats not good enough, I want an assurance they will here on the 6th. I'm spending ?359.00 here, the least you can tell me is that they will be here. I can quite easily go and spend my money in another shop, say Vision Express".

Okay, "Yes, they'll be here".

So it was left at that.

Today, yes you've guessed it, "Mr Smith, hello, Specsavers here, I'm sorry to say that we have cracked one of the lenses when coating it, so they wont be ready till Friday"

Off down to Specsavers!!!!, thanks but no thanks, I'll have my money back.

Not even an "we are sorry, perhaps we can offer a deal", or "can we help in any other way"?

They simply asked for my card, reinstated the money owed to me and let me go.

Just goes to show how they value your custom, its the last time they'll see me (I cant see them as I have no glasses now)

Feckin tossas :wank:

For Phooks Sake

He's leading the group into Spain for 7 days

THEN he tells us that not only is he BLIND 8l1nd

but he aint got any specs now

I have an alternative cunning plan however........

All routes have been manually keyed into the Trusty Garmin

As long as I leave it switched OFF we should be OK!!

I was once informed that with companies like specsavers, the profit on these two for one offers is something like 150% whereas the profit on the more expensive glasses is 60% so they would bend over backwards to sell you the two for one specs but not so keen on selling the dearer ones. also the two for ones have a life expectancy of about 10 months whereas the dearer ones are nearer the two year mark.

Specsavers :wank:

I got a new pair of specs, I told them I coul'nt see very well through them,
They where insistant that I should try them for a week so I could get used to them
I insisted there was a problem.
So they checked them and found the lenses wrong way round, left in right, right in left. :f

Having a similiar problem myself, being a diabetic, I have to have a retinopathy screening once a year, and this "service" is provided by our local specsavers branch.

OK, in April I have my annual test and retinopathy bit, and I'm told that my prescription has changed significantly, enough to warrant new glasses. OK, sorts out the lenses and frames, and like Allan, needed them before my holiday.
Like Allan, it was a bit touch and go as to whether they would arrive in time.
They arrive.
Left lens is perfect.
Right lens is inverted, i.e. the far distance is at the bottom of the lens, and the close distance is at the top!
Sent 'em back, and the revised set arrive two days later.
Left and right lenses have been interposed this time .......

Eventually get them sorted out and off we go on holiday. I have such bad headaches I revert to using my old glasses.

Told to keep trying to "break them in" .... (like the glass is gonna wear to my eyes). Headaches get worse, so last Friday I feel my way into spectwats, and demand to have my eyes retested.

Surprise surprise,
Another new prescription! .............. which is identical to my previous one prior to April ..........

but at least I'm not paying for the things.

Cunch of bunts, all of 'em.

blind mike.

I tried using contact lenses and for the first year everything was fine, so second year I went back to Specsavers, new lenses sorted until I was driving back from Twycross suddenly everything went blurred, as I was travelling on the motorway at the time it was a bit scary, I managed to turn the contact in my left eye and hey presto my vision returned only to go blurred again the next time I blinked, I pulled into the hard shoulder and let Bev take over the driving, I contacted specsavers they said "give them a month to settle" I stopped my payments and returned the lenses, and went back to glasses.

my advice

If you can, make do 'till you get to Spain. Pop into Reus (not far from where you're going) and there is a quality opticians in the main square.
Quality brand names (if that's ya bag) and they'll do 'em in 48 hours.
Got a pair of Oakley sunglass with prescription lenses last time there for half the price they are here. Not only that, but they couldn't fit the prescription lense here due the curveture of lens apparently :dunno: - not a problem in backward Spain
