I'm sure a sensible person will come along soon :risas3:

Headlamp bulbs, maybe others, small torch and extra batteries.
Phone charger:D
Rubber gloves and wipes.
(I hear the comedians lining up already)
There are specific wipes "for toolkits"

I'm warned by my son to put down side stand always. He had a close shave with his new GTR1400 (fully loaded on tour). His mate was parking directly behind him (fully loaded) didn't manage to get it up on the centre stand, it rolled forward and pushed the GTR off the centre stand.
Luckily it fell on to the side stand.

Depends where you're planning to tour.

If within UK/Europe I'd just make sure bike is well serviced, tyres and chain ok.

Probably a good idea to carry a tyre repair kit the can plug a puncture.

The only real weak point that might let you down is the charging circuit.
You pre-empt that by fitting a voltmeter with the coloured lights to show it's charging. In fact do that even if you're not touring. That will give you advance warning.

The blackbird is so reliable otherwise.

Going to the EU (through france) you need to carry a hi-viz gilet/jacket, originals of V5, MOT, insurance, a crit air sticker.

as mentioned above the charging circuit is the only thing on the Bird that is unreliable. Belt and braces would be to carry a spare reg/rec and generator but maybe consider preventative maintenance…if the battery is of any age replace it with a new one before departure…there does seem to be some merit in the theory that a less than 100% battery is the root cause of the oft seen charging issues.

The worst thing that can happen is you end up with a spare battery!

Uk touring nothing really just the standard toolkit and some chain lube and some sort of money on a well looked after recently serviced bike

The worst that can happen is shops are shut on a sunday or its after 4pm in wales when everything is shut apart from B&B;s (sneaky that :jaja-no: )

Overseas touring ? why on earth would anyone want to ?

have you tried it and didn’t like it? Or not tried it because you simply don’t want to?

over the past 30 years I’ve been all across Europe, solo and 2 up, and done many tens of thousands of miles. For me it is the best place possible to ride a bike, I find the locals all very welcoming to motorcycles, it’s as if they are first brought up to ride and appreciate them.

Good question with a simple answer

Absolutely no interest whatsoever and there is plenty of this country I have yet to see despite spending more time and doing more miles aboard a bike than most, still not got to the Falkirk wheel as an example despite passing a dozen times

I'm so paranoid about the charging circuit on the BB, the last few years I have only toured on my Fazer because of it even though I do 4 times more mileage on my Blackbird. Even so I have never had an on road electro/mechanical break down with either bike.
Just curious, could one of those compact 12v lithium power bank/jump starters act as a battery in an emergency?

Can’t answer that question but I know an Fi will go around 25 miles on a fully charged battery and zero charging.

My commute was 26.4 miles :jaja-no:

Both batteries fully charged between journeys awaiting the regular delivery from jaws….I also had an intimate knowledge of al the safe places to stop and swap batteries over…
