Why oh why do the remoamers STILL fly in the face of all the evidence and promote doom and gloom ?

The second link shows why Varadker is doing everything he can to stop Brexit. Eire will suffer badly when we leave. Less so if we only partly leave. Britain has no need to put anything on the Irish border but the EU has to so they are doing everything possible to stop us totally leaving. HMS EU is listing badly and will eventually sink with the Euro the first to be thrown overboard to act as a lifeboat. We need a hard Brexit so we will be less affected when it sinks. I have said this before but Eire would be better to leave the EU and seek an alliance with the UK. Eire has had all the free money it is going to get from the EU and we are their biggest trading and cultural partners. As for the remoaners, John, politicians have an axe to grind in the form of jobs for the boys and the rest have a fear of the unknown.

No need to promote it.

It's happening.

Hopefully once a deal is done things may start looking up a bit.

As an ex-banker Andy is possibly looking at Brexit from the perspective of the City of London. From their perspective things are fantastic while we are in the EU. Business is booming, wages are sky high and a loss of sovereignty is a small price to pay. Sadly the rest of the country does not do so well under the EU. Surgeries with too many patients, schools overfull, council houses occupied by peeps who have not lived here for 5 minutes. Loads of unskilled labour happy to work on zero hour minimum wage contracts. We have been subsidising the rest of Europe for too long and it is the EU's aim to expand among further countries who want free money. Politicians love empire building and that is what the EU is doing. The EU parliament has absolutely no power. They are well paid rubber stampers. I'm sick of the lot of them and just want us out. Yes, it will hurt for a time but we will do better in the long term when the EU edifice collapses with us not so reliant on them for trade.

What bloody fantasy land are you in ?

Take a look around

The £ has collapsed.

The high street is dying.

Jobs being lost as firms relocate outside the uk.

Car sales plummeted.

Political situation on a knife edge.

Fuel prices rocketed.

Too easy to say 'nothing to do with Brexit'.

I said it before the vote and I am yet to be proved wrong - an exit vote was always going to lead to uncertainty. And that is exactly where we are.

The pound is recovering

High streets world wide are dying..Cannot compete with the internet

Jobs being lost ( of course no one EVER relocated before the referendum did they ) but more jobs have become available
Unemployment is low.. I actually do not know a single person who wants to work and is not working. Unlike the 80's

Car sales low not because of Brexit .. but because of several other reasons inc the fact there has been so much hype about electric cars, diesel cars, Euro 4 implementation, the upcoming Euro5 implementation etc etc

Fuel prices up.. Yup.. World wide.. not the UK. Diesel in Italy was almost 2 € a litre last month and it was 1.60 € in France.. Is THAT because of Brexit ?

Politics on a knife edge ? It is far less tense than when the last labour lot were ousted having flogged our gold reserves and leaving the country skint

Let me add to your list. What about the new investments by some of the big firms that total many billions ?

Well judging by your own criteria I think you have been proven wrong now..
But....being a Remoaner you will not be able to see it.

Am I a 'remoaner'?

Yes I do think leaving the EU is a mistake but that doesn't make me a 'remoaner'.

Just got to get on with it.

As I said, easy not to blame all the woes on Brexit.

The economy is a fragile thing that is upset by uncertainty more than anything else.

Factual and not patronising. Try looking from the point of view of someone living in Boston, Lincs?
If you make assumptions about what someone else is thinking then it is patronising.

For your information, over 70% of the people who are still of working age who worked in banking no longer work in banking. Ordinary people. The people that cashed your cheque in your local branch that is now almost certainly closed.

An awful lot of good, decent hard working people working in an industry that has been overtaken by technology.

Your final two sentences say a lot about attitudes in this country and the 'power' of social media.

Someone expresses an opinion and they are attacked for being different to those of someone else.

But, being narrow minded you will not be able to see it.:devil-flip:

As an aside, anyone with any understanding of the economics of the UK will understand that even today a lot of our significant problems go back to financing the war with Spain with debt. A pointless war that need not have happened.

Further back even, Andy. Income tax was first applied as a temporary measure to finance the Napoleonic war.
