As I have aid before, registering as POS should be done.. And I have no objection at all to the proposed on line licence IF it was to be free or at least reasonably priced

BUT

Do you ( or anyone apart from idiot law makers ) think it will affect anyone but ligitimate users ?
Of course not.. If you can buy a gun, a machete or a kilo of coke on the street you can certainly buy a drone

What happens if one is sold on eBay ( for instance )
Will drones have an equivalent to a V5 ? Will the buyer have to supply proof they have preregistered the drone efore it can be posted ?

If you go down the route of licencing hobbyist drone jockeys (i.e. the small sized lightweight stuff) then you need to seriously consider licencing cyclists. As was reported earlier this year....a speeding cyclist can kill if they hit a pedestrian and you're far more likely to be hit by that than a drone.
Personally I'd like to see licencing for drones above a certain weight, but as per my post above, they need to streamline the licencing process and bring the cost down significantly. At the moment you're looking at £1000+ and that's taking the piss when you look at the typical costs to licence a car driver for a 1 ton vehicle.
All fair points. However, drones have the additional potential for invasion of privacy and can be, well, just irritating when used in inappropriate places.

good looking AND modest
Two bikes I can understand but three cars? Sell one and buy a drone.
One car is a "donor" one is for my 16 soon to be 17 year old daughter, the third is my sometimes daily driver, and as I can't ride yet, seems reasonable, the biffer plastics are a lot more complicated than the bird, and I've forgotten how it goes back together, even if I could wield the spanners to do it, so everything is on hold until I get use of my arm and leg again.

Keep working at it Ian..
I could barely stand up and certainly could not even hold a cuppa.
All the stupid physio shit did nowt apart from make me sweat a lot.. After two weeks I did not bother, instead forced myself to TRY and do everything as normal.
Something I could do, something I still struggle a bit with, but all in all most of my stuff works now.. I have a few problems typing and have to go quite slowly. and have to double check everything I type, but I get by :)
My advice, no matter what the effort, get in the garage and twiddle some spanners mate...Even if you have to stop every 10 minutes to recover ....

At the year marker I had to go for my check up.
Quack thought he had the wrong notes.
Says here you had a stroke last May

Yup

He was sure I was someone trying to work a scam !
Had the physio check and told the lady I what I had been doing instead of their 'plan for recovery' crap
She told me I had done exactly the right thing, and the plan was for people not willing to try things them selves..

Three months ago I was called in by the hossy for a check up ( 18 months ) and was told my recovery was 'remarkable'
I had not known up to that point just how severe the stroke had been.. On the scale they use it was marked as severe ( 70 out of 100 on some weird pie chart thing ) and they showed me my scans ( again, not seen before )........ 12mm by 5mm by 20mm of my brain had been affected.. killed off. Amazing how the brain works out new paths for the signals to get through

Nothing there that can't be overcome if a sense of proportion is applied.

I don't really see the need for each drone to be registered, more that you need a licence to use it.

And what is to stop some oik using one ? Nowt.. and said oik will not give a toss .. Why ? Cos who do you think will police it ?
We aint got the cops to police anything except bar serious crimes ( and road traffic ) let alone who has and has not got a drone licence

This is great advice. As there's a thread on the subject on here, why not get yourself a cheap Mecano set off Fleabay and dick around with that? That should get your fingers twirling and maybe help the hand/eye co-ordination thing get going. A few quid and a few hours is a small price to pay for a potential life-changing act. And no, I AM NOT TAKING THE PISS (just for a change)! As most on here know, I'm a bit of a retard and wouldn't dare fettle with my bikes with all my faculties intact; if suffered something horrid like a stroke I'd get a Mecano set and, well, there's not much damage I could do with that now, is there? Is there?

Supernatural healing powers, just like me. I think it's called being 'a bloody minded old bastard'!

I had knee surgery in August 2017 because of a complex tear in my meniscus and ACL. A most excellent surgeon removed 60% of my meniscus. I was back in the gym on my crutches seven days after surgery and the best physio ever to lay her hands had me running in seven weeks, which is almost unheard of. Within three months, I was up to 120kg on the barbell squat and 180kg on the deadlift.

That's a wider issue. You may as well not have driving licences based on that logic.

To an extent that true, but there are police who specifically work in traffic..
The last time I saw a policemen on this estate was several months ago.. He went to a neighbour to buy something she had put on preloved

I believe it is illegal to smoke weed.. Plod know only too well who is smoking it..I cannot walk around Thetford without getting out of my skull the stink is so strong ( they do not call some of it skunk weed for nowt )
People standing in the town centre smoking the crap and plod just strolls past..
Unless someone is pissing people off or things like Gatwick occur, plod is not going to get involved

I don't understand why you keep banging on about other things like driving and weed?

These things need to be regulated, at least there are now some powers in place to do so.

Whether they can be enforced is a different matter. But at least the tool is there to be used now rather than having the equivalent of the Wild West.

It may be rather disingenuous to have a go at plod for ignoring weed smoking - they move in mysterious ways and may have a wider agenda than giving some prick who thinks it is clever a caution for possession.

Both of those have well established laws, rules, etc. as they have been in existence for some considerable time.
The nuisance factor of drones is still new, so it'll take a while to strike the right balance as to what laws, etc. are required....but much like the current laws to police driving and drugs offences, they will inevitably come.
