Easy now before the vulger comments fly i am talking about the bike.
I have noticed a strong smell comming from I think the exhausts at first a rancid burning kinda stench, (and no I did not leave my gloves on the cans to warm up at the last fuel stop). I can smell it whilst slow moving through traffic and when i stop at lights. Infact a friend pointed it out when I turned up at their gaf last night.
I am just putting it down to exaust mono carbons but it is a lot stronger than normal. GOPPING
Any ideas boys and girls.:puke:

If you have a new 2002 model Bird then it could be the cats in the standard exhaust cans that is causing the stench?

Its not cyclops

:} Bugger did I laugh hard Bert.
no it was ne Cyclops I think I would have noticed a 6 ft something
tall skinny bloke with a red head welded to my cans.
(does that mean Cyclops looks like a Swan Vesta).

The Bike is a 99T hence the plate to hide the age.
So any way its probably not the cats.

Pooh, who farted

I have heard that escaped hamsters sometimes mistake the stock cans for the standard 1 1/4 inch felching tube so they crawl inside but then die from blown ear drums the next time you fire it up ( the exhaust fumes don't do them much good either ). One week later they start to ming a bit which would explain the smell. Also has the performance been affected too as the carcas cause a small blockage and affects the engine breathing.
Remedy: Get youself a ferret and the little guy should be able to retrieve the carcas without you having to strip down the whole exhaust system - handy tip ehh just make sure you put him down the pipe which smells the worst and tie a piece of string to it's tail just incase it get stuck too.

Hope this helps.

Whaaaat

Nick,
now I am seriously worried about you, how on earth do you seem to know so much about felching. The other day you were talking about spit roasts. Could it be you have gay or bi sexual tendancies. I fookin hope not i have got to share a tent with you Saturday night.
Now bog off this is a serious section of the forum, i have got to ride about 800 miles this weekend and am genuinly worried. You bitch.

Hmmm...

Hope you haven't been the victim of a practical joke - like me! Some twat wedged a fookin kipper between the yokes of the exhaust manifold (of a cage that is), if I ever catch the bastard I'll smoother him in fishpaste an BBQ the git! :m

Sorry to be serious for a minuet, but the smell could be from your battery, if the reg/rectifier pack's up, as they seem to do on bird's, they fry the battery, which smell's bad.
Check charging voltage, or next time you smell it, lift the seat and touch the top of the battery, if it's red hot you will know what it is.

So if the above is true, did anyone smell anything nasty coming from Kylie last weekend as this was her fate i think?

Is this blowing rectifier something i have got to look forward to and is it a big job if it does go? Might be worth keeping my eyes open for a cheap spare if they exist!

Hi XXScraper, yeh regulator/rectifier's tend to go on blackbird's, when they do they can fry the battery, they are very easy to change, it's the small box bolted to the frame under the seat, new they are about ?168, you will be very lucky to find one second hand.

MPS and the like's do pattent one's for about ?65, I got one off a Fireblade, been on about a year now, still working.

As a mod some people fit computer heat sink's and fan's to the reg/rec, seems to do the trick, wouldn't think they like our weather though.
