Does anyone know how to get your mic working on the old skype? I can hear people when they call (sadly I can also hear the mum in law when she does too) but my mic seems to be packing in. Whenever i go onto my "vinyl deck" on the comp, it repeatedly shows that mic as muted. I take it off this but the bloody thing still doesn't work and the mic hops back to being muted again. Any of you comp buffs out there can help with this one?

On your desktop go to....

Start>programs>accessories>entertainment>volume control.

Click on options and click properties from the drop down menu.

In the list of ticked items make sure 'Mic' and 'Line in' are both checked. While there also make sure the volume for microphone in the recording section is turned up.

Failing that, go to the Skype website and select Help. Select Troubleshooter and dot the option for 'My mic is not working, no one can hear me'. Follow the steps as prompted.

Good luck - I'm sure it's only a setting somewhere, finding it is another story!

If you have a soundcard AND built-in sound on the motherboard make sure the on-board sound is off. You do this in the "setup" when you switch on the computer.
