Been there, and had one

I worked for a Chrysler dealer all those years ago and used to supply spares for the Tigers. Most complicated was spark plug replacement on the V8 motor which by the book required an engine out operation. The other way was to cut access ports into the gearbox tunnel.

Yes, Tiger started out as a 260ci (4.2l), then got the 289 (4.7l). Never got the Cobra 289 Hi-Po though of 271hp. The LeMans fastback was pretty good though.

Definitely not a GLS Mk v in the UK.

there was I am pretty sure a GLS Sierra.
I was pretty sure they had an LS and GLS but maybe I’ve mixed it up with another motor.

There was, 2.0 GLS Sierra.

It seems there was a Mk V 2.3 GLS

Ah,, having read the article now I remember! There was a ’handling’ package available on the Mk V which was designated ‘S’ for ‘suspension’. You could have a GL or a Ghia with the S package but they were still designated GL and Ghia Not GLS or Ghia S. As suggested above the ‘S appearing on a boot lid was probably nicked from a Granada.

Glad that’s sorted,

Um, no it's not. It wasn't just suspension, there were various other upgrades, too. These models were identified with an S on the boot lid.

You should on this one!
Been down this road before with you.

life’s too short.:timidos:

all I’ll say is read my posts carefully on the subject and all will become clear. Particularly the bit that says ‘in the UK’.

The Wikipedia site also lists a number of engine and transmission variants that weren’t available in the UK, alongside the GLS that also was not available in the UK.

see if you can track down a UK spec Mk V with a five speed gearbox that isn’t a conversion. Some were converted to five speed using a Sierra box by owners (including me, really easy job), they don’t count.

just saying for a friend.
