This scam dates back at least 10 years, and there followed legislation setting a max charge on prime rate numbers ( though for the life of me I cannot remember what it is )

Just checked.. In 2015 ( took 4 years to get the law passed ! ) the max charge permitted on a premium rate number was set to £3.60 a minute, with up to a £6 one off access charge

Sooo.. You would have to be on the phone about an hour and a half to get a £315 bill

Still £10 that I could put to better use. That would get me about 6 litres of Shell V Power diesel.

Try a 70% fill with standard and top off with heating oil !

Not sure about that, my car is still under warranty and I wouldn't want to do anything that might invalidate it. Same reason I haven't had her re-mapped.

As it is still white, unless they do a chemical analysis it is undetectable.. totally illegal mind you as you would be avoiding duty
I would NEVER use an 80% heating oil, 20% pump fuel in my van for that reason

Then I most certainly can’t risk it. It’s in my employment contract that I must have a car and I can’t afford for it to be confiscated by customs for non-payment of duty. It might result in a criminal record which would mean me out work and unable to resume in my current profession.
