a while ago i talked to jaws about BLIND SPOT MIRRORS FOR BIKES, not those silly stick on things, but the whole mirror, like you get on modern cars nowadays, yes i do do LIFE SAVERS,AS WE ALL DO,but would it not be nice to be able to see muppets behind us WITHOUT SCREWING OUR HEADS OFF????? why dont we send some e mails to the manafacturerers of these mirrors and suggest it, what do u LOT THINK? %$fan

Don't see why it couldn't be done. It only needs a degree of curvature on the correct edge......

I could do with them as

I don't generally do a lifesaver unless I have not been paying attention to what's going on behind me in the mirrors. As I don't have much of a neck and with shoulder pads and a full face helmet unless I let go of the opposite handle bar I can barely see what's beside me never mind behind I tend to keep abreast of what's in my space. Plus I think looking behind me at a time when I'm turning across oncoming traffic into another road which may have traffic trying to come out only adds to the hazard. All these things are value judgements and I reckon the greater hazard is from ahead or to the side. If I keep well to the left on LH turns and as close to the white line as oncoming traffis will allow on RH turns then it is going to be fookin difficult for anyone to squeeze by me! Works for me.....so far anyway. Just putting extensions on the mirrors to clear the elbows is a big help and how many pee[s do that even though parts are easily obtainable. Off now to rest my two fingers!

I have to agree with the mirror extenders, when i fitted mine to the BB the difference it made was amazing but i still think that it would be a good idea to have a section of the glass altered to allow for blind spots, i would still do the life savers but any extra view around you has to be an advantage.8l1nd

I've had many conversations with a friend at work (advanced rider/trainer) about visability on bikes and have even mentioned blind spot mirrors before but as with many bikes the mirrors just don't come out far enough so part of your vision is taken up with your elbows, to take more of that away with a blind spot section of the mirror, you would not be left with much of a standard view behind. I have to say that with extensions on I think it is then possible to have part of that mirror glass altered. The only other way i can think of (for me personally) would be to fit a completly different type of mirror altogether but i like the current ones to much to do that.
