Very sad today...

... Been following the progress of one of the idols of my youth (long time ago...LOL) I must admit, that I was hoping and praying that his strength would pull him through this, as it has done many times in the past....

Met him a couple of times in the last two or three years, and each time he was full of vigour, and always seemed to have time for the people who wished to speak with him.

A wonderful ambassador for motorcycling, and Grear britain.

I am sure there will be a bloody big party in heaven very soon if he has anything to do with it, and my god, are they in for some laughs...

We will miss him

Is is purely thanks to Barry that my interest in biking never wained.
Without his flamboyance and down to earth approach to the world many people of my age would have given up biking and be sitting in tin boxes.
He was more than a hero or hard man.. he was an icon to be admired, and for many would be champions, a man whose talents ordinary folk could only ever aspire to..
He will never die in the hearts of many.. His name and exploits will continue on for at least another couple of generations.
He rewrote the book, and as such will be remembered along with other greats of sport.

very sad

A sad day for us all, but he has left us with lots of great memories.

Quite simply put, he was a great bloke and a great character who will be sadly missed.
