Hi, Having just joined the forum I am not sure if I am in the correct place but I will give it a try. I purchased an '02 Bird with 5000miles in september. Since then it has been back to the shop for running issues. I kept getting the ignition lights and the HISS light coming on and the engine cutting out for a few seconds before restarting again. This was 'sorted' back at the shop after a 10 day stay. I went out on it last thursday but it over revved on the exit to a round-a-bout luckily I had plenty of space to deal with it, then was missing/pinking at 5000revs. Yesterday it over revved again as I pulled away at my home spinning the machine in a 180 and threw me across the road. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I am a qualified motorcycle instructor who covers about 23000miles a year and have not come across this issue before. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I did start a thread under the rider help forum but was asked to move it as I may get better advice on this one. thanks to those who offered advice on the other forum

"When I last took it back the mechanic took it for a test ride and admitted it scared him"

I just can't believe that this bike shop let you ride it away after an admission like that. :bang:

The machine is a full Honda UK spec. Reg '02 with digital dash. It was first registered on 03 september 2002. WU52 ###

I posted this on the original thread before I realised it had migrated over here:bang:

Hello Mac166, and welcome to the mad house.
I assume you bought your 'Bird from the dealer who "fixed" it?

If so I'd seriously consider giving them one last chance to rsolve the issues and inform them that if they fail to do so (and repair the damage caused) that you intend to reject the bike.

As you've only had it a short time and covered relatively few miles You still have consumer law on your side.

Better move quickly though, and put it all in writing.

aqn chance its a throttle cable routed incorrectly and hence getting stretched when you turn. Had this problem with an old suzuki.

just took the machine back to the shop. On-route it was missing at 4500rpm on a conatant throttle although it didn't do an over-run. Shop took it for a test ride but it apparently was good.

They are keeping it for further investigation.

Hope they manage to sort it for you... there's definately something wrong. The 'bird is usally smooth, quite and very well behaved.

Police instructor tried mine once having told me he thought that these bikes were just too powerfull and not neccesary..... changed afterwards to say... "it's a pussycat..... really smooth, controllable, effortless and great fun".
