Well done Alec. I was planning on doing RoSPA last year. I'm hoping to get it done this year to add to my I.A.M. cert.

I've not had a lot of luck with Rospa. First time I was working towards a pass, I had an instructor I gelled with straight away. but he fell out with the committee & left, don't know why. I was on the verge of taking my test & had already done my mock test at silver level. the next instructor told me I was a danger to other road users & couldn't understand how I was still riding, I suggested I change instructor. Ther third one seemed to lose interest after two rides & despite phone messages and an email or two, I never heard from him again.

I changed groups to one in the county I actually lived in (instead of the one nearest to where I live) and after paying my membership fee & hearing nothing from them for 4 weeks, got in touch to ask why. I was informed they won't undertake any instruction until I'd paid for membership, all instruction (to be held in an account & paid out to the instructor by way of fuel contribution) and the exam fees. Once I'd paid they would arrange my instruction. This was, I'm told, because they had too many people join up, undertake advanced instruction, then leave again without taking their test or rejoining the group after 12 months.

As I'll have some time on my hands in July this year, I'll be approaching the local IAM group.
