Looking at the map I think our first stop will be about Darlington as one of the chaps going broke his back a few years ago and 200 mile stints is really about his limit..

After that we will be up around the Trossachs so will be wild camping once north of the border..

Can anyone recommend a camp site ( pref biker friendly or at least accept bikes ! ) around the Darlington area ?

Not far from Darlington is a beautiful place called Barnard Castle, unfortunately I don't know any campsites there.

There are a few listed but seem to average £20 a night !!! We would not pay that for the 30ft motorhome let alone a bloody pup tent !!

There was a place near the visitor centre at Hamsterly forest where you could pitch up, nice flat area alongside the river, but I'm going back 3 years so it may have changed now, it was Forestry Commision land and charged ?5 IF they could be arsed to turn up to check.
No phone signal at all there, but a cracking pub in the village for a meal, but may be too far out in the sticks to make it viable after a long ride etc.
