at night in the city... bloody brilliant (but preferably at midnight in the summer as opposed to 5.30pm on a friday night in the rain:eek: )

winter sun makes evening ridin a pisser but i like riding in the dark, the birds headlights good for that, but the 600 dont light up the road just as well.
i get a little paranoid when i cant see the road surface too well, so tend to slow up even more:eek:

Riding in the dark on anything other than die straight roads at speed is a fookin dangerous exercise as the Blackbird light is Shit on dipped beam and not much better on high.

I would know this if I had one of course.

Long live the XTZ

define speed mac????

35mph is sometimes too feckin fast and by the same token 150mph is also too slow.

i am, down the route to work, around 30% slower in the dark than when it is light, also am around 20% slower if it raining, so when it rains in the dark i am as slow as an asthmatic snail carry two large shopping bags up hill with the wind blowing in his face.

Answering to nobody
One dark night whilst returning from the Matlock meeting on the BIRD i found myself making good progress around some of Derbyshires twisty 'A' roads which consist of solid white lines and 90 degree corners.
At the time i had 100w dip headlight on and the car coming towards mee was flashing its lights at me so i thought :wank: , have a bit of 100w main beam too.....
I carried on at a pace and rounded the next bend only to come face to face with a huge bovine in the middle of the road.. I was glad the road was dry as i anchored up a few feet before i ended up wearing another leather jacket.

After a Mexican standoff for a few seconds the beast decided to try and scale a dry stone wall to avoid further confrontation, 1 ton of bovine scaling a wall about 4' high was quite a sight whilst being vulnerable in the middle of of a forest with only my heartbeat for background noise.

Yeh, as a matter of fact i do enjoy night riding though it has to be said that one night was quite a brown trouser moment.

HAHAHA it might of thought i was on a cowasaki.

In the dark?

I do it, but don't enjoy it. The 100 watters make it a bit more tolerable.

It.....

...... wouldn't be too hard for the mighty Honda to put HID on the Blackbird at the time of assembly , only a minor update but worthwhile, as the std. lights are sh*t*.

More than once driving on lit dual-carriageway's I have been caught out by the sudden change to no lighting and been left pondering what is coming up in the BBird headlights.

If you think the Birds lights are bad try a Thundercat on full beam. The unit throws a big 'V' vertically right in front of your eyes. You wont see it at first but when you get spray coming through the beam it ferckin well shits you up.

The Thunderace as standard has shite lights being as the 2 bulbs are only rated 35w/35w. Replaced with 55w/60w makes a fantastic difference. Ive tried 100w bulbs but frankly they are more trouble than they are worth because you get return flare from road signs and the possibility of melted lenses.

Night riding

I love riding in the city at night; along the embankment crossing over Albert Bridge up to Bar Italia for a quick expresso and then back over Chelsea Bridge with a few of the boyz on a Friday night :yo:

Anywhere else and I'll take the cage unless it's a warm barmy summer evening which means twice a year in the UK! :}
