I was riding in France a couple of weeks ago and had no problems with a 'dip' HID and I never have had in all the times I have been over there. I do not use tape, cover or anything, just check that if I am heavily loaded that oncoming vehicles will not be 'blinded'. If I (the bike!) am not loaded I just go as it is.

When I returned to Roskoff there was (unusually) armed guards at the port entrance, they even complimented me on the HID ............. lucky they didn't look too closely and spot my radar detectors

shouldnt worry about it Richard, as suggested above just make sure they dont blind when the bike's loaded, I had occasion to use mine in the dark, and got no "complaining" flashes, hid top and bottom, adjusted low,

My BB has a flat European beam, i.e doesn't need taping, in other words, doesn't hand a LD dip/flick of light Thought most/all were ??:dunno:
