~~~ Regular Social Get-Together - Midlands based~~~

Having been down to the "Lord Derby" to witness firsthand the social that they have once per month, struck me that we could start something like this a bit more central in the country......

Spoke to a few peeps recently and what's been suggested is this~~~~~~

Regular BIRD Monthly Get-Together

Date: First Friday of every month

Venue: Matlock Motorcycles Cafe/Bar, A6 just outside Matlock - left hand side - on the road to Bakewell, Stockport and Manchester

Time: 19.30 onwards

Cost: Bugger all ! [apart from your food and drink]

Who's invited?: Everyone including partners regardless of whether they ride pillion or not

Doesn't matter whether you turn up in cage or on bike cos the accent will be on banter and friendship [aka Pi$$ taking] - 12 months of the year - not just during the warmer months.

As far as I know this venue does decent food as well as a bar that's open till 23.00 - making it a Friday meet means that for most people with some distance to travel there won't be work considerations the next day

First proposed Get-Togther would be Friday 05 March

Post on here is your interested as it would be sensible to forewarn this place that there may be a few bikers for dinner [well it beats Turkey!!]

Rumour has it that Cyclops will have an inaugrial "opening of the wallet" - but only to buy his own drinks!!!

Is was SO impressed with your convivial hospitality and the rush to the bar to buy me a drink [NOT!!!!] that we decided to "do out own thing" BUT do it properly LOL

There may only be one "Lord Derby" but up here the beer is cheaper, the roads better and the food "edible"

Why not visit us and see - promise we'll widen the entrance doors for you!

But what about making it a bit more central. For me its about a 60 mile ride and about as many feckin speed camera's. For Rolfy Dave for example it would be a two day camel ride or at least a stop over at my place, that by the way poses us no problems and Dave knows that we are always pleased when he and Jan come over.

Also as most of it is via unlit roads I might have to come on my Trophy as the lights at least allow you to see in the dark! unlike the dipped beam on the bird which is frightening when you switch from mainbeam.

So how about somewhere like Bassetts Pole for example they are quite used to bikers as any midlander will probably know, there are about a thousand or more bikes there every Tuesday night throughout the summer.
