Just changed the tyres on the Bird from 020s to Storms (No this isnt the usual posting in praise of new tyres - more of a warning). Now Jaws warned me when I bought the Bird that the 020s were non Bird but they were relatively new and how different can they be. Having now worn them down, went to tyre fitter with very squared off tread and red face mumbling about motorways but, in reality never felt anywhere near as confident on the Bird as my Hornet. Changed to Storms. All my birthdays and Christmas's came at once. Considerably more agile, planted and it made me a hooligan again (OK maybe a slight exageration). Within 20 miles straight 0ut of the box (I know - scrub off the silicone first), checked the tread and scrubbed within about 8 mil of the edge. Shoulda listened to Jaws - it aint economy using up tyres if you cant enjoy the bike. Also if your on 020s and dont feel too comfy check out the rating first.
