Just put a new rectifier on my 97 Blackbird (carbed) as it was not charging. Now its charging okay, but can anyone tell me if its normal for the rectifier to get really hot right away. thanks Stevo

They do get fairly warm !!

If you did not charge the battery up before fitting the new reg rec the thing will be working flat out to try and get the battery back up to full.

Same sort of thing goes if you have fitted anew battery without charging it forst.. Yes, they have a holding charge in them and they are good enough to get you going, but ideally a new battery should have a few hours charge in it to take the edge of the work the reg rec has gotta do :p

You might want to check the alternator output, and rectifier output to confirm all is well.
