I just got so fed up looking for a rear rack that did not look like scafolding poles or the usual tube style rack .
So I simply made one to suit the bird. I think It looks the part, but hey thats me.

OK THIS NOW SUCKS AS I CAN'T WORK OUT HOW TO POST A PIC.

Looks Great

Really like the look of it.
But I'm puzzled, r*****c rear carriers collapse when boxes are put on them.
I know they only have a 10 gram max loading sticker but I suspect they are not that well made.
Anyway, how do you know it can support the weight of a fully laden box AND sustain 140 cruising (off road!?).
Just curious, thats all!
:dunno:

Hmm, I agree............

as much as I like the rack, its neat and very streamlined, I would be concerned about the load.

also being a pillion at times myself we do have a tendency to lean back against the box! Is it going to take that???

O.K. The rack does look very simple but dont be fooled, the side winglets are not flimsy at all, it took me a few goes to figure out that the grab rail had to go to keep the rack as slim as possible very important also the winglets are not bent verticaly as this was slightly weaker than at an angel as on Mk3, As for the weight the Mk3 version on my BB took my full weight 16.4st with out bending on my test rigg.
As for the BBs rear frame well I look at it this way Its Honda and not one of those Su-suki Hi-ive-BUSTA sub frame jobies
Now as I dont intend to carry 16.4st or stand on the rack whilst the bike is in motion (NEAT TRICK THOUGH) I wont be losing any sleep over its structural integrity me thinks.
Not with standing, all that the single track roads around the very top of Bonny Scotland could throw at it, it past with flying colours I'm on to a winner with it.
P.S. I alway tend to over engineer what ever I make even my very first bike had a top box and a cobbled together rack and yes it went off road.
AHH GREAT DAYS SONY WALKMAN, DAVID ESSEX SILVER DREAM RACER BLASTING IN HEADSET RIPPING AROUND THE STREETS AT 150 (ON THE BACK WHEEL HONEST MATE)!

I think you must come from the same school of engineering as me!
Only the other day a lighting rep was demonstrating a vandal proof exterior fitting.
Well - the bad new is it wasn't! One small tap from a medium claw hammer and it was history!
Keep me posted on your carrier as I like the idea having suffered the fate of a r*****c carrier snapping with an empty box on board.
Cumbernauld - spent far too long building mobile comms sites in the area - snow was always a problem especially in summer!

Snap

I used to have some photos like that from when I was last in the area!
One time even the tracks we laid (?!) froze into the ground!
Then I left before winter set in!
