I have learned quite a lot about this over the last few years as I have the pleasure of working with quite a few people that observe Ramadan.

Leaving aside the religious aspect, I honestly believe that the concept of the abstinence aspect of Ramadan is ace and is perhaps something that would make huge chunks of the population (and i include myself in this) better people if we were to participate.

Bit of a bummer that Ramadan falls during the period of the longest daylight hours this year though.

The problem I have encountered with Ramadan is that during the evening, partaking taxi driver's road awareness is impeded & their body odour is obnoxious.

Bev's boss told her she couldn't have any leave in June because it's Ramadan, Bev informed him that Ramadan has nothing to do with her & she told him she was taking two days off in June, he didn't argue.

Rather than abstaining from food etc for a few hours a year wouldn't it be better to abstain from killing innocent people or supporting those who commit such cowardly crimes forever.

Sometimes we really need a 'dislike' button on this site............

No, we don't need a dislike button, Andy. It's taken for granted.
The more atrocities I hear of in the name of Islam, the more I realise, some people have their heads firmly up their backside. Probably the safest place when I think about it.

My inclination was to close this thread but on reflection that would be removal of the 'free speech' that applies in our society.

:)-(

Why even consider closing the thread just because someone says what many are thinking? Bit radical isn't it?

Free speech? Try making jokes about the Prophet Muhammed and see where it gets you. If you're brave enough.

Why is that ? personal dislike for someone you have never met or dislike of a valid opinion?

To qualify my post so there is no misunderstanding .here is a well known quote......

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"
Edmund Burke.

My personal opinion is that many good men within the Muslim community are doing nothing about the radical few & that is the same as supporting the evil that some followers of their religion are responsible for.

Would you keep quiet about a neighbour who was being radicalised or building a bomb or carrying a machete or AK47 ? I know I wouldn't :)-(

You are entitled to your opinion. In the same way I am entitled to dislike your opinion.

All Irish people are terrorists and responsible for atrocities claimed by the IRA.

All gypsies are thieving scum.

Tell me what the difference is between the two statements above and your stereotyping of Muslims?

I can't wAit.
