Hey all-
I just got a '97 XX and it came with a set of air ducts. I can't seem to find where these go and I think they are from a 99 XX. they are brand new and still in the bags from the dealer. the P/N's are-64212-mat-d00 and 64222-mat-d00. does anyone know if these are for this bike? any help would be appreciated.:h

No ya don't

If they are a pair of long black plastic tube type things (crap discription I know!) then they are for a fuel injected bird.
A carbed bird's air intake into the airbox is via two little inlet scoops which peep over the frame rails and are visible once you take the tank off.

And just to further clarify, the ducts on the frnt of a carb'd bird just feed air down to the rad I am afraid !

And yet~~

despite Ram Air on the FI's, the carbed BIRD is quicker in stock trim - isn't it?

No mate, though they often have a couple of MPH extra at the top end.

You could always do some hacking around mate... At a guess I reckon thats what someone was gonna do, cos apart from fire damage I do not think I have ever known one of those ducts to get badly damaged even in a big get off !

The part numbers are correct for the ram air ducts for the FI 1999 & 2000 model.

I am attempting to instal these ducts, where is the Oil Cooler on the FI birds? there doesn't look like enough room to put the ducts and cooler in there at the same time.
