Questionable YouTube vids

I was whiling away my lunch break looking at a vid on YouTube when this one popped up.
It's about changing the cam chain on a bird. I thought I'd give it a look to see how he did it. Now I'm far from being a competent mechanic so can't comment on his work, I'll let others that know what they're on about do that. However, I think even with my very limited knowledge he's lost the plot if he thinks the cam chain needs replacing after 24K miles. Yes that's right, 24K.:jaja-no:

Don't waste your breath posting that it's not necessary - I did some time ago and just got a load of abuse back.

It was just like being on here:p

Edit - see correction below

That bloke is only demonstrating his complete ignorance of things Bird
That's what I thought and he's supposed to be a professional. I could understand it if he was doing it just to provide an instructional video but he kept saying it wasn't one.

The sad thing is he is obviously a fairly competent fitter.. He should have chosen a different bike

I know this bloke, he's done some work on my bike when I first got it. He is a very competent mechanic and a very nice bloke.

I've just read some of the comments, so is there any truth in the lifespan of the actual chain?

Correction, I must apologise. - it was a similar video by an 'expert mechanic' in America where I suggested replacing the cam chain being replaced wasn't necessary on a Bird and got a load of abuse from the originator in return.

average life of a cam chain in the bird is 250,000 miles
