I learned of this via ADV.

So so sad. I didn't know Ben but we bantered on here and he was on the ride-out at the main Bash, iirc.

Gutted.

I didn't know or ever meet Ben but am none the less very sad to hear of his death leaving a wife and young family. My thoughts are with them at this time.

Gutted will miss the cheeky fecker :)

What terrible sad news. Still can't believe it and hard to know what to say except to say it's a fooking cruel cruel world!!! :bang:

I first came in contact with Ben when he called me at work to say "hi i'm Ben, i'm skint, and i want my wheels painted for fook all, and what can i do for you in return". I took to him straight away for his cheek, but fair play to him. We soon learnt we could help each other and i'am now the proud owner of the flashest business cards and flyers in my game! An e-mail/phone friendship began, and we met just a couple of times when he collected his parts.

Even funnier was when he had an off and he asked if i could respray his panels (for more design work of coarse :) the cheeky fecker sent TWO bike sets in one box! When i questioned why i had two, he just said "oh yeh, thats my mates and he's a magazine editor, so i thought you'd do him a freebie for and i'll get you in his mag". :yo: True to his word, there we was in the next months issue:bow:

I've attempted to attach a copy of my business card to show more of Ben's handy work. A real talent!!!

As everybody said before....a gentle giant! Greatly missed

R.I.P. MATE :bow::bow::bow:

I got to know ben through our wives and kids, we all got on so well we decided to go on holiday together which in the end also turned out to be my honeymoon. we spent many an evening sitting on the terrace supping a beer and puffing away on a cigar talking bikes, bikes and how did he manage to get us so lost on the way from the airport to the villa following the tom-tom.

RIP Big fella gonna miss you lots.

LOL - Gladgrags' story of Ben getting lost following a TomTom reminds me of just how bad he was behind the wheel of a motorcar......... when I say bad, I really mean it, he seemed to immediately lose all sense of spatial awareness the minute he squeezed into a cage...........sign of a true biker me thinks:bow:

Ben's sense of humour was legendary. Here he is at full late night wibble - Christ how we laughed. That weekend he had said, 'you can kip in my tent - save you packing yours)....... arrived at Shakespeare County Raceway, he unrolls his tent and it's been put away wet and not seen daylight for years - it was utterly goppin', could not even breathe inside it the mold and fester was that bad, we unloaded two cans of deoderant into it, shut it up and went to the beer tent. Don't think we actually kipped in it all weekend

May I pass on my sincerest condolence to Ben's family and friends on the forum. I've only read a few but the tributes have been glowing, seems like a fella we all should have had as a best mate.

Ben Pics

Hello everyone!

I've been lucky enough to know Ben for (gasp!) nearly 20 years. I'd just like to say the last few days have been made a lot more bearable by looking at the pics and reading the fantastic comments that have been posted, so thank you all for that.

Ben was one of my favourite people in the world and I loved him dearly. He nearly passed out with excitement when I got my bike licence! I thought you might like to see some pics from years gone by.... (1990 I think).

Still kickin' it!
Having witnessed the response to the sudden loss of a man who was so obviously loved by many, it is clear to me now that, even though I never met him, Ben?s perspective on life was one from which we may all benefit. In many instances, he has been described by those who knew him as ?one in a million?, and his philosophy ? or so it would seem ? was that ?Life is for Living?. By all accounts, he lived his life to the full, and, in that, there are lessons for us all: lessons that we should strive to learn as we continue to live.

Make the most of what you?ve got.
Make the most of those you love.
Don?t waste your time with meaningless tasks.
Be inspired.
Be inspirational.

These thoughts, and others, came to me because of someone whom I have never met. Perhaps that is just a small part of the huge legacy that he leaves for those who knew him ? and for those who did not.

Iv'e struggled in my mind to make sense of Ben's passing although I never met him. These words just about sum up my feelings too.

Thanks DA.

Have not posted sooner as I was trying to acknowledge the original request of Lumpy and put my pictures on...Alas, after a house move I am sorry to say that I still cant find them....
Met Ben a couple of times and can only say that he was no less than a really top bloke on both occassions...A great laugh and in my opinion a really honest guy...Always said what he meant and meant what he said...A sad time for his wife and family and indeed for us all
RIP
