The grass has been massacred

It's in bits as cylinder 3 filled with fuel...

Petcock and carb service time... while I'm there I'll put some new fuel and vac hoses on as the old ones arent very healthy.

Waiting for parts now :juggle:

I assume you are aware that https://www.jawsmotorcycles.co.uk/ is generally regarded as a reliable source for Bird parts

Well, it's not perfect but it will do the job...

Picked up a slightly damaged lower fairing for £20 delivered. Intended to prep it for paint today but on close inspection the majority of the scrapes were only superficial and in the clear. So a bit of wet and dry and then machine polish and I reckon it will do for now, one little scuff on the back edge that I'll touch up another time. This isn't ever going to be a show bike. Just need to sort the decal.

Also fitted some R&G bungs that I had in my parts bin.

I believe the bungs are not always the best idea, as, should the bike go down, it can 'rock' on the bung and the mirror mounts can then take a bashing resulting in a damaged top fairing.

I had the JAWS version when mine went down. They mount higher so did stop the rock, proved by a scuff on them. Mirrors were still off the ground.
Suffered more damage while picking the bike up with a couple of mates that didn't give me chance to stop it sliding before it went up!!

Bungs are ok to stop some expensive damage in a low speed slide but on higher impact off's they tend to transfer the force to the frame, seen many damaged frames because of this so I always remove them & try to stay upright :D

Being proper frame/engine mount ones rather than fairing mount ones I'd hope that's less likely.

I've seen lots that use the upper most lower fairing mounts that subsequently have bent or broken that mount, but not so much from these.

Either way, they are on there now. The 'new' fairing already had the hole cut in the panel for them. So it was an easy choice.

Besides, I'd rather not fall off... :D(y)

Dammit.... cylinder 1 is now a culprit and is flooding.

Despite new float needles in all the carbs and a complete clean out.

Argh. Apart it comes again....

If you are running off the tank is it clean ? it don't take much to jam a float needle as i'm sure you know !

Yeah... crappy pattern float needles. Stripped it all apart again and it was possible to blow air past all 4 of them with the floats held shut. Teach me for buying them from eBay. Totally useless.

Refitted the original ones and they are all sealing fine.

So, I have 3 options. Buy 4 genuine Honda ones at 20 odd quid each, try some of the Jaws ones or leave the original set alone since they seem to be OK having cleaned everything.
