Progrip Light Sensitive Lenses

Visor insert (like Fog City, i think) only supposed to be light sensitive. Has anyone on here tried one? They look ok fitted, and as there doesn't seem to be anyone making visors that are light sensitive, seem like they might be worth a try.

visor insers

Hi, haven't tried the light sensitive ones but I would think they might be pretty good. I have used Fog city and have recently tried another make, can't remember the name, but I think they are great.

So I would say worth a try!

You must let us all know what they are like......expect a detailed report!!!

Yup

I tried them last year, when they were first fitted they were great, reacted to light ok and were clear enough at night, one big problem though.
If you don't get an absolutely, 100% totally watertight seal around the edge onto the visor they will leak between the visor and the insert when it rains, the big problem there is that if water does get in, then it totally fooks them up and ruins the coating making them totally useless and you can't actually see through them (seems to wash the coating off and makes it streaky)
I've had 2 of them and each time I thought I'd stuck them on as good as I could, but you know how rain finds its way into any places it can, well yes it did it twice, so I've given up now cos there aint many summers when it doesn't rain !

The choice.................is yours !!

sealing..........

I wonder if the sticky stuff around the edge is not the same as the standard ones.........never had a problem with the standard ones with rain leaking.

Obviously I use them throughout the winter for de-misting purposes, and apart from my helmet leaking:rolleyes: at New Year I have had no problems with water getting inbetween the visor and insert:dunno:

Russ........are you cleaning the inside of your visor thoroughly before applying it??????:t

Yup.

BIF, after the first one leaked I made damn sure the 2nd one was squeeky clean !!

Still leaked tho !

I too have the clear ones thu the winter and they havn't leaked either, of course they could leak slightly and you'd probably not notice, its only when the water hits the light sensitive coating that is is noticable, even a little spot of water makes a right mess !!

I Fitted one of the photosensitive fog city ones about August last year. First impressions were good but I find it doesn't get dark enough. It does filter out the UV though which reduces eye strain. I haven't experienced any leaks yet, so can't comment on whether the coating comes off.

I have used the progrip one. Had no problems with it sticking at all, more of that later. However it changed colour great at first, would have been nice if it was darker, but after about 6 months it stopped changing even in bright sun light. One good thing is that it's a very good anti fog thingy also it half the price of a fog city.

Before fitting make sure your visor is very clean. and there are no traces of any anti fog stuff or polish, best to clean with a spirit based cleaner.
