I've just ordered a power commander for my 04 bird should be in by friday the bikes fitted with blue flame twin ports (not evo's)
anyone else got one fitted any advice please on setting the thing up plugs into pc apparently :dunno: give me a spanner and hammer and me's happy but I'm a little less skilled with puwters
should I fit a K&N filter at the same time any advantage over the stock one

Is a lunp
to do it right blu, it needs to be set up by a qualifire techy.

but i believe the maps that you can get will get you close.

Some people say K&N make fuck all difference, yet those same peeps say that if you fit aftermarket exhausts, no PC is OK, but if you fit K&N ALSO, then you HAVE to fit a PC, so go figure... I've got 4-2-1 blueflame with removed baffle AND K&N, am happy as Larry - I personally believe that K&N helps breezing better, but heard that OEM filter is high breezing type. What I say is, in doubt, get the best stuff, so I got the K&N!

I fitted a PC to my SP1; it?s real easy to do especially if you have the USB version of PC. Just choose a map that?s close to your set up, it doesn?t have to be spot on, i.e. the cans: If you cant find a map that includes your cans choose another similar make, I ran a similar set up with no adverse effects, in fact it improved the standard mapping no end. If you mess up its no worry, just redo the map again, any changes you make will not affect the Honda PGM F1 wotnot.

Sometime in the future if you really feel the need to get it finely tuned then go to a dyno centre but its certainly not a necessity

Got to agree with BlackBirdBaz on this. I fitted the PCIII USB to my '04 Bird a few months back. My bike is stock except for a set of oval IXIL pipes (thanks JAWS). The only map I could find that was similar to my bike setup was for a bike fitted with Leo Vince oval cans so I used that. The bike ran beautifully with this map fitted. I finally got around to getting the bike custom mapped a few weeks back and after doing a couple of runs on the dyno found the map was spot on as it was. Power curve had no dips and the fuelling was spot on perfect. Just needed a couple of values entered just off closed throttle and all was sweet.

As long as you use a map that is suited to a bike with a similar setup to yours you shouldn't have any problems until you get it custom mapped. Oh and fitting the thing is a piece of piss from the instructions included. If you need any advice on installation give me a shout.

Power

Hi Blu.
When you get the Power Commander you will have several maps to choose from, I could let you know the one I used if you wanted.
Please check if you need an 02 sensor as well - I have one fitted to mine, as I have race cans fitted.
I'm very happy with the results from mine, it's cut out the 'snatchyness' and you also get better MPG and although it's not yet even been put on a dyno I have noticed the improvement. So the advice from me is fit it and run it and see what you think.
Money well spent!

Got it this morning and fitted it in ten mins piece of cake init
I've got it booked into a dyno centre in Gloucester next monday for set up they said the standard map would be fine until then
i've just come back from an hour test ride results are obvious already no more stuttering on a neutral throttle and there's better response right through the rev range lol
