Polished wheels

My wheels have been polished up by the previos owner,i have tried autosol but as soon as i hit wet and saltred roads the rims whiten up again anyone have some decent suggestions

Try a smear of ACF .. alternately deep polish them. Ally will form a hard 'crust' if mirror polished..
Bloody hard work but it will last for a couple of months at least.

Send them to Jaws and have them powder coated and laquered chap.

a great idea but it would be the cost and the time i would be without my bike

Dont know.... but jaws might have a set of wheels to loan you... have a word with him.

Drill and buffing wheel :yo:
Used to take me 3/4 hr to buff up wheels, fork legs,swing arm and footrest hangers

(back in the good old days ) i would cover polished bit with sealer for spark plug leads, when it got damaged was able to wash it off with petrol

things have come on since we were kids,boiling chains on mums cooker,cornflake boxes for gaskets,cork tops for clutches,now i am looking for an easy life

Have used

Silvo & autosol to get bad marks out, then polish & coat them with Belgum which protects them a little.

When I ran polished wheels on another bike, I would smear on a thin film of grease or vaseline throughout the winter, then use de greaser in spring. Then a quick polish with solvol, good as new. Looked crap in winter though.

won't make em last longer but will remind you of the chrimdo dinners

On a previous bike I used a little smear of WD40. Also helped to clean the chain wax off them
