Police Officer Pushes Man Over Who Then Dies

Tomlinson was shoved away from a police line. He died shortly afterwards. There was no way it could have been foreseen he would have died after being pushed, but it happened, and was very unfortunate.

Very unfortunate???

The media only print it because it causes such a fuss and sells papers. If Tomlinson hadn't died then we would never have even heard of him.

He did die!

How many of us have been in situations where we have had to use force, to defend ourselves or in the course of work, and the subject of our 'attentions' has died? Virtually none, most likely.

I did. Under very strict terms of engagement where I knew that if I erred then my ass would be roasted. Military Court charged with manslaughter at least.

Just the UK media stirring up the shit as usual, the daily Two Minute Hate and The Sun Says, and we all start screaming and throwing shit around like enraged apes.

Correct there at least. There is shit to be stirred.

Too many goody two shoes bleeding hearts in this country. That's why it's going to rat shit.

I am a strong supporter of the police. They are the reason we sleep safely in our beds at night. BUT even the police MUST be accountable for their individual and corporate actions. I know the copper did not mean to kill him but that would appear to be the end result of his casual wallop and push. Shit happens to all of us and we have to carry the can. If the roles were reversed and the victim had pushed the copper then no matter how minor the consequences he would have been charged!

Coroners Jury find officer unlawfully killed him.

At least now the Court has decided his conduct caused the death of Tomlinson, and the Law Court system will turn the wheels of justice. (Very slowly probably).

Wonder what the outcome will be?

Rovinghawk, you're a bit slow today, you away on your hols? ;-0))

For a person who was homeless and an alcholic for the past 20 years, it's strange to see how his family have now suddenly gathered to defend him after his sad demise?

Rovinghawk it's wankers like you that get peoples backs up do you have a job in government office as your fit in well
Far be it from me to call you an idiot, but the jury seems to have agreed with my point of view rather than yours.
I'm pleased that the coroner allowed them to choose unlawful killing as a verdict bearing in mind that in other police killings this wasn't permitted.
you be leave your always right
:wank:
If you intend to participate in a written forum, I'd recommend you learn the language, you illiterate goon. I await your poorly drafted response.

ps Murt- I've been waiting for someone (such as yourself) to comment on the verdict rather than jumping in with both feet. I'm pleased that the first comment on the verdict was sensible and fairly neutral rather than one of the more polarised sides to the thread. Might I suggest, though, that your signature relating to irreversible liver/kidney damage might not be entirely appropriate for a policeman commenting on this thread?

the verdict was always going to be that. it couldnt be anything else.

rovinghawk. what job do you do? a non confrontational lets deal with things with hindsight behind a desk kind of job?
it would be interesting to know.
are police officers who are members here not allowed opinions, does freedom of speech only apply to certain people with certain jobs or are some people in certain jobs only allowed opinions?.

Previously it wasn't allowed to be that.

Hardly- I run building sites & spend the days arguing with bricklayers & similar. Wasn't it Humphrey Appleby who suggested that if you can't attack the argument then attack the man?

I'm with Oscar Wilde on their freedom of speech.

What did Wilde say then?

He said many things:

By giving us the opinions of the uneducated, journalism keeps us in touch with the ignorance of the community.

Democracy means simply the bludgeoning of the people by the people for the people.

America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between.

Is cinnamon muffin a euphemism for something else?:-0)

This whole Tomlinson affair is going to have quite an impact on public order policing, and the accountability of the TSG and other force support groups. Be interesting to see what happens to the PC who was under the spotlight...

Anyway, I'm off for a cinnamon muffin.

Have looked at the footage a few times for this one. The fact that the cop walks accross the front of other officers to push him back does'nt really look to good but unfortunately if it had not been for the video footage then we would'nt be ranting about this one.

Did the cop mean to kill him NO, did he push him back cos he was walking in front of a Police line YES, should he be punished internally probably. But most important should he go up in front of a judge for his actions. Most certainly NOT!

Are you for feckin real!!!!
The guy was going home from work, the wooden tops wouldnt let him through their line so he walks away with his hands in his pockets and this tw@ smacks him with a truncheon then pushes him to the ground. The officer should be sacked, lose all his service bonus's and be in front of a judge for the minimum charge of common assault.
