If i had a choice? I know, I'm a weirdo!
I would be more intimidated by a Stanley blade than a knife.
Get slashed with a Stanley and it's a nightmare to stitch up.
The Higonokami in my pocket at the time of chatting to the off duty numpty is far sharper than a stanley and totally legal, honestly that thing is shaving sharp and deserves respect even from someone like me who has been handling blades for 50 years or more

It’s exasperating, it really is, good to know though that this will all go to making us safer, FFS :BangHead::facepalm:.
I thought long and hard about posting this thread as many don't understand that a blade is a tool nothing more until it is in the hands of a prat, honestly i am surprised that there have been no bad reactions yet (waiting on beaker :meparto: )

Sometime the general public will realize its not legal blades themselves that cause the problem its their little darlings running around with freely available kitchen knives :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

Mate I concur completely, too many people are only too ready to blame the inert item than accept that intent and human mindset is the thing to fear. There’s a parody site called gun watch encouraging people to watch a gun in case it goes ape and harms people it’s been there for years and hasn’t fired itself once :meparto:.

No it does NOT make a difference mate, the blade is totally within the law to carry on my property or not there are only two ways I should get hassle for it
1; waving it around in the street in an aggressive manner, but the same could be said for a biro
2; i was somewhere where the management or owner had a policy against carrying a legal tool and even then all they could do is ask me to surrender it or leave
I think you missed my point. What I meant was if private property then he / she / they! Couldn’t approach you about it any way. No different than me waving a circular saw round on my drive if that makes sense.

Even if the blade is an inch long and it locks its an offence without "reasonable excuse" hence my multitool has now been modded to non locking ;)
Swiss Army Champ at the moment, but I have carried various other multitools.
I wonder what he'd make of my Opinel No. 8...? It has a locking ring.

Police are searching Woodbury common for a carving knife believed to have been used by serial killer Stanley blade

Apparently this week is National Anti Knife Crime Week.

In our local area they carried out a sweep search if the local park - didn't find anything!

Well actually not entirely true, they found a lot of litter which they collected.

Yes sorry if did misread it and completely missed the point

As you say it was technically nothing to do with him in the first place as I was still on my property, I could have understood the bloke having few questions if I was out there with 17" of Enfield bayonet (still technically legal) but an obvious cause for concern, for a closed and cased totally legal multitool he can take a running jump, officious little prick that he was

The champ is legal I believe eg under 3" and non locking, just look the law up so you quote it and can tell them to do one just in case mate
The number 8 not so much, eg over length for EDC and locking but still legal to own and carry "with reasonable excuse" going to work, fishing, shooting maybe? .

The problem with "reasonable excuse" as stated in law is it does not specify what that excuse may be and its not been tested in court to set a precedent yet as far as I am aware
